Family and friends show their grief at the end of the funeral Mass at St. Rose Church for Mitzi Hernandez Nicolas and Emily
Gonzalez Perez, the two girls who drowned while swimming after hours at the Ninth Avenue beach in Belmar last week.

BELMAR - Family members and friends, sitting a

few feet away from a pair of white caskets, wiped
away tears Friday afternoon as they honored two
young Belmar girls whose bodies will later be buried
in the familys native Mexico.
But the Rev. Walter Quinceno said at the funeral
Mass that the drowning victims spirits would remain
close by.
We say goodbye to their bodies with a lot of an-
guish, with a lot of sadness, but their angelic spirits
arent going to Mexico, Quinceno, parochial vicar at
St. Rose Church in Belmar, said in Spanish. Where
are these angels going to be? Here with us.
