Working Together Ingrain the Learnings

May 17, 2009

At Goldstrike we are actively looking to always improve how we work together to achieve our short term goals and
C long term strategy. All salaried staff will attend the Working Together training and will know we are looking to
make improvements - how we interact with each other in getting work done; how the work is organized as well as
the team process. Models presented impact our culture and behavior. Part of doing any course should be to
Context
positively influence the culture at our site. Having people apply the material as soon as possible after the course
will help demonstrate its practicality as well benefits to the workplace. We are investing a great amount of time
and resource by providing the training for all salaried staff it is the belief that those that attend the training will
incorporate the tools into their work. The benefits will be more engaged people, less incidents and less rework.
Becoming better team members and team leaders will only lead to an improved workplace.

P To ingrain and sustain the Working Together processes, we must apply

the processes and tools in the work of our roles.
Purpose

After attending the training, each person will meet with their supervisor to discuss how the course went for them
Q what they learned-the specific processes that he/she will apply in the work place. The meeting should take place
within one month of attending the training. They will document the areas to be applied and both sign the
commitment at the bottom of this sheet. Processes to incorporate should include the Team Process and Task
Quantity
Assignment to improve the engagement of people. Others areas could include symbols and visual workplace and
how they impact behaviors.

Within 2 months of attending the training, each individual will apply the specific processes and then document how
Q it went, felt, and could it be improved. The person will also present it at the Open Pit Division Monthly
Improvement meeting and at a follow-up Working Together session. There will be at a minimum of two
presentations discussing at least one process. The presentation should be about 5 minutes and include some
Quality
visual aids. Content should also include areas identified for application and why, description of activity undertaken,
analysis of lessons, specify benefits gained and what can be done from here.
