Summary:
The paper outlines developing of Virtual Joint Laboratory for Advanced
Information Technology in Production (VALIP) that integrates hardware and
software equipment of three geographically dislocated laboratories. VALIP
consists of virtual and real devices that can collaborate. It can be used for
testing industrial solutions by integrating all participants existing equipment
while compensating not existing by virtual ones. It follows that an application
for managing distributed production resources can be developed in a similar
way.
Virtual copies of stereotypical devices such as robots, machine tools,
conveyors, sensors and embedded systems can communicate between
themselves as well as with their physical counterparts. Thus, virtual device
can imitate or control real device or be a truly virtual thing, like concept or
algorithm that can upgrade capabilities of real device in such a way.
VALIP was built combining RT-Components of OpenRTM-aist middleware
and Cyber Devices of VIRCA application, both being free to use development
environments.

Summary:
For people from ancient times, the world consisted of four elements: air, water,
earth and fire. And, although a modern man knows more than 110 chemical
elements, his activities in the field of environmental protection are concentrated
precisely on these four elements. Further human survival on this planet depends
more and more on how much humans care about these elements and their
existing reserves.
In the early 1970s, after nearly a hundred years of vehicle development,
the vehicles eco-development had started in order to reduce or completely
eliminate the negative impact of vehicles on environment. Environmental
protection and efficient use of the existing reserves of energy sources and raw
materials are in the spotlight of the modern car development for decades and
are deeply instilled in overall development of cars. Life cycle assessment, which
is carried out with increasing precision, will contribute with new knowledge on
possibility for further improvement of the cars environmental characteristics on
its whole journey, from obtaining raw materials for its construction to recycling
of end of life vehicles, from the cradle to the grave.

Summary:
Is there a successful state the progress of which is not based on ever more
numerous and more sophisticated technical achievements? The endurance of
Serbia and Republic of Srpska (B&H) is questionable if their decision-making
systems are based on voluntarism, improvisation and if the most dynamic
development sector is creating of pretense. Sustainable development of Serbia
and the Republic of Srpska is only possible if based on science. The sustainable
development and progress of Serbia and Republic of Srpska is to be founded
on knowledge and on realizing actual scientific achievements. Knowledge
and scientific achievements should be the basis for developing new products
capable of being competitive on the global market.

Summary:
Materials play an important role in engineering design. Selection of the most
appropriate material involves the study of a large number of factors, such as
thermal, mechanical, electrical, chemical and physical properties as well
as machinability, formability and weldability of available materials. Heat
exchanger is a design part which takes heat from one fluid and passes it to a
second. Selection of the most suitable material for a heat exchanger is a multi-
criteria decision making (MCDM) problem with diverse objectives. This paper
describes the use of recently developed MCDM methods for selecting the most
appropriate material for a heat exchanger. Results revealed that naval brass
UNS C46400 is the most suitable material for this application.

Summary:
In this study the solidification behaviour of AlSi18CuMg-alloy produced by
rheocasting process was investigated. The structure of the rheocast samples
was examined using optical and scanning electron microscopy. In this paper
the relation between fraction of solid and size of the primary Si particles was
also investigated. The metallography of the rheocast sample showed that the
Si particles were uniformly distributed throughout the matrix at 0.3 fraction of
solid. An increase in size of primary Si particles especially for 0.5 fraction of
solid was noticed. The optimum size of primary Si particles was found at low
fraction of solid.

Summary:
This study presents experimental results regarding kerf width obtained in CO2
laser cutting of aluminum alloy AlMg3. Laser cutting experiment, conducted
according to the full factorial design, where three laser cutting parameters
(laser power, assist gas pressure and cutting speed) were varied at three levels,
provided a set of experimental data for the development of mathematical
model for the prediction of the kerf width. Statistically assessed as adequate, the
developed mathematical model was used for the analysis of interaction effects
of selected laser cutting parameters on the kerf width. It was observed that
assist gas pressure predominantly affects the laser cutting process of aluminum-
magnesium alloy considering kerf width.

Summary:
Modern structures, parts and components for various devices require new
materials that can withstand complex stresses, chemical, and physical activity.
For these materials must be carried out various technological processes of
processing. In addition to production and resistance of these materials to
chemical action, special attention should be paid to the processing technology
to the final mounting position in the structure. Particular attention should escort
them to the intensity of the residual stress and the size of cracks that can lead
to distortion of structural integrity in their application. The paper discusses the
impact: the geometric parameters of the workpiece and the tool, the position
of layers deformation degree and intensity of deformation at the double layer.

Summary:
Gears in gear shafting are exposed to high intensity of stress of complex sharing.
Modelling of gear geometry was preceded by analysis of work condition and
analysis of geometric forms and accomplished solutions. Purpose of work was
finding a form gear of minimum size necessary to transfer the given load for
adequate gear ratio. Conditions between size of gear and moment of inertia
were made in function of gear ratio and rotary moment.
For finding an optimal form, we started from Hertzs pressure on flank of
cogs and intensity of stress in bottom. Conditions between size of gear ratio,
module, axis distance, width of gears and intensity of stress on cog flank and
in bottom.
Parametric modelling of gear geometry using CAD software in outlines of
this work should be signification for next two aspects: presents a developed
method for gear and geometry shapes modelling.

Summary:
This paper examines the reengineering of a production process meant to
improve the structure of production, make it more market-oriented, enable
the replacement of old with new products, increase quality and cut costs,
reduce the process execution time, upgrade internal and external relations,
and eliminate redundant activities. Considering the functioning of an energy
storage system, stone has been often used as a material for heat accumulation.
In solar systems with air receivers it is almost exclusively used since it is
adequate as an air heat exchanger, bearing in mind that it consists of stone
pieces whose total contact surface is large. The proposed actions also include
the redesign of the composition, production configuration, and modification of
technological processes in stone processing which can be implemented with
modern investments achieving significant improvements concerning the flow
of raw materials, avoiding production bottlenecks, improving quality alongside
relevant cuts in the labour costs. The proposed reengineering activities also
take into consideration the protection of the environment by reducing energy
and waste material, and improving working conditions.

Summary:
The significance of contact friction in metal forming processes is very known.
The general approach in this area involves the recognition of the influence of
the main tribological parameters - pressure, speed and temperature in metal
forming. The developed methods are very different for physical modelling
of tribological phenomena and influence in a very specific types of metal
forming. These methods basically have the appropriate physical model which
imitates local area or a complete work piece in metal forming. The indicators of
models can be very different: the deformation forces, forming limit parameters,
coefficient of friction, temperature distribution, etc. This paper analyzes
the physical models in cold metal forming processes, according to their
characteristics and limitations.

Summary:
Today, environmental pollution and the reduction of living space and
natural resources are among the biggest problems. Waste rubber products,
especially waste tires, are virtually indestructible and are a major problem for
the environment and human health when disposed of in landfills. It should
be mentioned that 1 t of passenger car tire occupies at least 6 m3 of space.
Despite many recycling processes which are in accordance with sustainable
development, tires still represent a major problem. One way to overcome this
problem is to use the recycled rubber powder in new products. The solution
lies in the modification of the surface of particles of ground tire rubber and its
usage in virgin blends. This paper presents the impact of mechanochemical
modification on the particle surface and its effect on the properties of rubber
compounds.

Summary:
Deep drawing is a very important process and it is often used in the metal
industry- especially in the automobile industry. Because of that, scientific
researches in the field of deep drawing of sheet metal are important which aim
for a higher stability of the process, a better product quality, productivity, and to
be more economical. What is important in the processs planning is the choice
of optimum values of variable parameters. It is also important to control the
deep drawing process in the optimum area of the process. One of the methods
in controlling the process is the control of the movement value and the moving
speed of the washers shroud edge towards the dies cavity.

Summary:
Aluminothermic welding is a specific procedure of merging parts of greater
thickness of the carbon and low alloy steels. The procedure most common
applications has in welding rails and support elements of structures in a
mounting position. To perform the welding procedure requires a special
auxiliary equipment and apparatus. Training and certification of welders
for procedures connecting the melting is defined by ISO, EN and national
standards. The manner and extent of the training and certification of welders in
the area aluminothermy welding rails for railways is defined group of standards
EN 13674 and EN 14730. As in BiH standards in this area have not been
implemented, but only internal guidelines, the paper provides an overview
of standard requests to the training and certification of welders for welding
aluminotermic.

Summary:
Based on the assumption that the system has been correctly designed and
built according to appropriate components assembling procedures, as well as
that it has been operated in accordance with its designed possibilities, we can
conclude that reasons for the system failure can be and mostly are gradual
degradation processes. These processes are result of the wear mechanisms,
fatigue of material or contamination and depletion of working fluid during the
system exploitation. Professional publications state that about 80% of system
failures result from problems with working fluid in respect of its contamination.
The subject paper presents experimental results regarding effects of different
cleanliness levels of working fluid (contaminated with solid particles), upon
the wear intensity of the piston cylinder contact pair in classical directional
valve.

additional grinding or milling process are needed to obtain the required surface
roughness. Bad surface roughness is undesirable and additional machining is
needed for improving surface quality. Milling was chosen in order to improve
roughness. The basic idea of the research was to measure the cutting forces
under different cutting conditions and produce a model that would be able
to predict cutting forces by milling layers of functionally graded material at
different cutting parameters. The first basic prediction model was obtained by
measuring the cutting forces in the three main directions of the coordinate
system by milling clad layer and changing the cutting parameters.

Summary:
Deep drawing of sheet metal components having complex geometry leads to
increased tendency on cracks and wrinkle formation as well as large elastic
recovery after unloading. Due to that, required part quality in many cases in
industry does not reach given specifications originating from body shops of
today. Objecting the goal of increasing part dimension and surface quality
by adjusting the local blank holder stiffness, simulative and experimental
investigations for a car fender geometry in this paper were accomplished.
The blank holder in this case consists of a cover plate which is supported by
numerous appropriate supporting cones made of steel. Components of the
blank holder then were meshed by solid elements and considered as elastic
bodies in FEA. Deep drawing process was simulated by using LS-Dyna code
subsequently. Stiffness of the blank holder plate as well as pressure distribution
during deep drawing was optimized by variation of compression elasticity
and order of the supporting cones surrounding deep drawing out line of tool.
Simulation and experimental results showed that wrinkles of the second order,
crack tendency as well as elastic recovery in deep drawing process can be
significantly reduced. Main key points of experience gained in this field are
included in this paper.

Summary:
During the machining of complex shape workpieces with asymmetrical surfaces,
the accuracy of measures is often conditioned by the compliance of fixture for
positioning and clamping the workpiece. This paper deals with the real problem
of clamping fixtures compliance during the machining of complex geometry
workpiece on the multi-axial milling machine tool. Accuracy measures and
quality of processed surfaces depend, to a large extent, on the compliance
of fixture for positioning and clamping the workpiece and the stiffness of the
machine tool system. In this paper, the methodology of analysis of fixtures
from the aspect of compliance and results of measurement and calculation of
displacement and vibrations of the workpiece during the machining process,
is going to be presented. On the basis of analysis and measurement results,
zones, elements and fixture sub-assemblies of relatively large compliance are
determined. In order to reduce compliance, that is, increase of the stiffness of
fixtures and raising the level of stability processes, the proposal of measures
that tool reconstruction should include, is presented.

Summary:
This paper presents analytical mathematical model for determination of the
axial stiffness of ball bearings with angular contact. The first part of paper
presents a model that consider the changes in stiffness, bearing contact angle
and contact load depending on axial loads, while not taking into account the
effecsts of the inertial forces. The second part of the paper presents a model
based on John-Harriss quasistatic equilibrium equations and Hertzs contact
theory. This model takes into account the inertial forces (centrifugal force and
gyroscopic moment), non-stationary changes of contact load, angle of contact
and bearing stiffness depending on the position of rolling bodies and axial
load. Finally the developed models are compared with the Palmgrens model
and numerical bearing model defined by finite element method. Based on a
comprehensive analysis of the results it was concluded that at lower RPM the
inertial forces do not have a significant impact on the axial stiffness, while at
higher RPM has a significant effect on the axial stiffness.

Software packages for 3D design and additive manufacturing (AM)
technologies, initially known as rapid prototyping (RP) have emerged during
the last years, as a cutting edge solutions for custom prototyping. These new
tools and technologies lower the design costs, but also allow rapid creation
of fully functional components. This paper describes the FDM and 3DP rapid
prototyping technologies that were used to create elements and tools in the
wood industry field. Total costs of manufacturing related to the fabrication of
sample elements and tools are analyzed. One of the main recognised issues of
wider application of rapid prototyping technologies is their still very high costs
related to all production aspects, starting with a lack of available materials,
material cost, up to high cost of available commercial equipment, usually
focused only on specific solutions and limited range of materials. Generally, AM
costs can be divided into the group of fixed costs and variable ones. This paper
deals with the optimization of the production costs of fabricated elements in
case of small scale production, and optimization of variable costs (processing
and post-processing, costs of enforcement, and material costs).

Green roof strategy is one of the sustainable practices that not only provides
thermal comfort for occupants but also reduces energy consumption of
buildings as well as add aesthetic values to the environment. Over the years,
there has been a substantial development in designing and constructing
vegetated building envelope. Green roofs provide environmental benefits by
protecting buildings against solar radiation and temperature fluctuations and
by reducing buildings energy consumption by direct shading. As most of the
existing buildings in Serbia were built before building regulations that require
higher levels of insulation, it is older, non-insulated buildings that will benefit
most from green roof retrofit. This article reviews the current literature and
compares findings, based on the type of the green roof and climate, to consider
the potential building energy benefits of green roofs, and the acceptability of
implementation on a wider scale in Serbia, on the basis of real economical
application.

Summary:
Cooling towers overcome the problem of water supply for thermal power
stations in the regions without enough cooling water from natural sources.
The thermal capability of cooling tower is conditioned by three parameters: 1.
cooling tower range (the temperature difference between the water entering
and leaving the cooling tower), 2. entering air state and 3. water flow rate.
One of these parameters, the entering air state, cant be exactly estimated, it
can only be predicted. The basic available solution is to follow the behavior
of atmospheric air with the use of climatic curves. Seeking assurance that a
cooling tower correctly performs the specified thermal performance, a three
step methodology was used for evaluation of cooling tower performance:
1. evaluation of thermal performance at design conditions, 2. evaluation
of tolerance between the design thermal performance and the thermal
performance at acceptance test and 3. evaluation of thermal performance at
changeable climatic conditions. Its realization is followed through the example
of the cooling tower located at the thermal power station in Bitola. Air wet-
bulb temperature influence on thermal cooling performance is emphasized.
The use of climatic curves is proposed for air state predicting.

District heating companies have growing and significant need for improving
economic and energy efficiency. Also, they have a challenge to keep the cost of
produced and delivered heating energy as lower as possible. That is why it is very
important to optimize production of heating energy using better prediction and
control of customer needs. In this paper, the focus is on short-term prediction.
Real historical data are used from city of Nis, south-eastern Serbia, heating plant
Krivi vir, 128 MW installed power. This prediction is particularly important
for heating in transient regimes which unlike the standard heating regime
does not have continuous supply of heating energy throughout the specified
heating time period. An application of neural networks is realized based on
original historical data of heating source by using recurrent neural network to
fulfill demands on variation in ambient temperature during a heating day and
satisfied results are obtained.

The goal of this paper is to investigate thermal and fluid flow processes in an
air/water perforated plate heat exchanger. The experimental investigation was
carried out over a single perforated plate which was installed in an experimental
chamber and heated by hot water. A fan with the variable flow was connected
to the experimental chamber, and the flow rates were varied from 100 up to
360 m3/h. The thermocouples were attached to the surface of the perforated
plate along upwind and downwind side, as well as at the inlet and outlet of
the chamber. During each experiment, the readings of thermocouples were
recorded alongside with air and water volume flow and temperatures of water
at the inlet and outlet of the chamber. On the basis of the experimental results
equations for heat transfer and pressure, drops were established. On the end, a

Planetary gear drives have extremely high specific caring capacity. Great
energy is being transmitted per gear drive mass unit. A part of this energy
which is by friction being transferred to thermal energy, is heating the gear
drive components. With prolonged intensive work, the quantity of released

Biodiesel is produced by the chemical reaction of lipids with alcohols (mainly
methanol, ethanol or a mixture of lower alcohols) in the presence of a catalyst. The
technology for producing biodiesel opens many opportunities for improvement
and advancement of reaction parameters. Among the most important are
certainly: the type of alcohol, the molar ratio of alcohol to vegetable oil, type
and consistency of the catalyst, catalyst concentration, reaction temperature,
reaction time and the method of mixing of the reaction mixture. The procedures
generally accepted in small production usually represent a compromise
between developed and defined laboratory procedures and procedures for
easy implementation in practical terms. Performing transesterification process
at room temperature (18-22C) significantly simplifies the process of biodiesel
production in a batch reactor. Here we report on the results acquired through
experimental tests on real batch reactor and the results of performed analysis
of the physical and chemical characteristics of biodiesel produced from native

In this paper the direct numerical simulation of the full Navier-Stokes equation
in vorticity-stream function form for the case of an inclined fluid layer with
temperature modulation on the upper plate is presented. The fluid flows between
parallel plates which are inclined with some angle in respect to the horizontal
plane. The lower side of the viscous fluid layer is constant temperature surface.
Since the temperature of the upper plate is higher than the lower plate,
Rayleigh-Benard convection appears mostly in the upper zone. We investigate
the stability of this convection for water as a working fluid. The results of direct
numerical simulation are presented as fields of temperature, vorticty, stream
function and velocity.

Electrochromic materials are able to reversibly change their colour when
placed in a different electronic state. Such materials have a broad range of
commercial applications. The most desired application are smart windows -
windows with electrochromic thin film coatings that allow them to darken and
lighten upon the application of a very small electric voltage and are the next
significant advance in window technology for energy efficiency and comfort
enhancement. Semiconducting copper(I) oxide, Cu2O, films were prepared by
electrodeposition method onto transparent conductive glass substrates. Those
films revealed significant difference in transmittance in their coloured and
bleached state, with an average relative modulation of about 53%, so they
could be a candidate for window coatings to control the inlet of sun light and
heat.

It is expected that thin film photovoltaic technologies will play a major role in
the world photovoltaic market in the near future. The use of flexible substrates
offers new possibilities for the application of solar cells, for example for building

makes them also more flexible in use than rigid cells. One of the most important
advantages of flexible solar cells, is the potential to reduce production costs.
Development of photovoltaic thin film modules ensures a satisfying flexibility
of the surface, and the possibility to design appropriate shapes. The future for
efficient, lightweight, flexible and cost-effective thin film modules looks very
promising.

Nowadays, for clean and renewable electricity generation, solar photovoltaic
technologies is the best option. Solar energy has become a promising alternative
source due to its advantages: abundance, pollution free and renewability. In this
paper, the possibilities to decrease energy consumption of Serbian residential
buildings are analyzed. The building with district space heating and electrical
energy generated by PV system is investigated. The major aim is to determine
the area of the PV array in order to minimize primary energy consumption. The
residential buildings with variable thermal insulation thickness and variable
electricity consumption are investigated in order to achieve zero- (ZNEB) or
positive-net energy building (PNEB). The buildings are simulated in EnergyPlus
environment. Open Studio plug-in in Google SketchUp was used for buildings
design, Hooke-Jeeves algorithm for optimization and GENOPT software for
software execution control. The obtained results gave the optimal size of PV
array.

Summary:
Urban planning is a set of measures, guidelines and suggestions for
improvement and unification of economic, social and sustainable development
of certain areas. Planning in the modern era, accompanied by a number of bad
consequences, has led to a steady rise in consumption of natural resources
used to build traffic and utility infrastructure and expansion of settlements.
Insufficient care of human race for environment and ecosystems caused the
emergence of large-scale climate change and global warming.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in urban planning
represents a new approach to planning, which enables the use of renewable
energy sources. The main goal of LEED technology is the protection and
improvement of the environment, through the creation of modern and energy-
independent urban space.
In this paper, using the methods of description and comparison, as well as
case studies of some examples, the possibilities offered by green building will
be shown.

Subject of this work is focused to developing computation procedure for residual
fatigue life estimation of cracked structural components under load spectrum.
Finite element method is used for determination of the stress intensity factors
(SIF`s) of structural element with surface cracks. These discrete values of the
stress intensity factors of cracked structural components are used for derivation
of analytic function for SIF that is necessary in crack growth analyses. To
demonstrate efficient computation procedure in residual fatigue life estimation
of damaged structural elements here numerical examples are included. For
residual life estimation of cracked structural elements here Forman and Mettu

High density storage solution such as dynamic flow pallet racks is accumulation
racking system recommended for great amounts of good with only few different
storage units. Palletized units are stored into deep tunnels not accessible by
forklifts for handling operations. These systems have overall objective to increase
the cube utilization and to reduce the handling costs. In this case selectivity is
sacrificed but the storage density is outstanding. Forklift brings storage unit to
and from the racking. Movement of the storage units within racking structure
has been achieved through gravity or some other force. Warehouses in food

This paper presents a comparative analysis of two techniques for controlling
DC-DC buck converters: the analogue technique that is based on the
proportional-integral-derivative (PID) sliding mode (SM) voltage control, and
the digital one using quasi-sliding mode based generalized minimum variance
(QSMGMV) control. Both converters provide good voltage regulation and
exhibiting robustness to parameter and load variations. The voltage regulation
in the converter with QSMGMV controller is achieved by measuring only the
sensed output voltage, whereas with PID SM controller, the use of current
sensor is mandatory. The former convertor has also smaller output voltage
ripple in comparison with the latter one. On the other hand, the acceptable
performance in the converter with PID SM control is reached by tuning only
three controller parameters in familiar way.

Summary:
The increasing market competition necessitates the creation of products of
better quality with the lowest possible price. One way to achieve this is an
appropriate materials selection that will enable better and cheaper product.
Knowing the quality of the available materials and their characteristics, as well
as tracking trends in the development of new materials, are essential parts
of good engineering practice. The materials selection is not an easy task in
engineering practice and it is one of the few in the process of constructing a
product that is subjected to constant changes. On the other hand, the wrong
materials selection in the very beginning of constructing could have irretrievable
damage to the manufacturing and exploitation process.
Data and information about materials must always be available to constructors
and designers of new products, as well as to technologists. They can be found
in classic literature (manuals, catalogs, standards, recommendations,...) or in
electronically prepared databases on the computer (intranet, internet).
Part of the available software tools for the selection of materials with the
basic characteristics will be presented in this paper. Also, several tools will be
described in more detail.

The coupling between experimental and theoretical dynamics of the vehicle
occurs already at the level of the recorded vertical accelerations at the centres
of the wheels, reflecting the interface between dynamics of vehicle, road
and environment. Vertical accelerations measured at the centres of vehicle
wheels are, in fact, the state variables of vehicle dynamical system. Vertical
acceleration at the wheel centre interlinks with the other state variables and
inputs, making a starting point for monitoring the vehicles mechanical and
functional couplings. This paper reviews possible applications of vertical
acceleration records acquired at the wheel centres in consideration of direct
couplings between vertical accelerations at the centres of the wheels, spectral
analysis of corresponding frequency response functions and couplings with
vertical acceleration of vehicle suspension elements. Applications also include
indirect determination of vertical wheel loads, vehicle excitation spectra due to
road roughness and relative displacements of suspension systems

This paper presents methods of measurement and analysis of instantaneous
angular speed at the free end of a ten-cylinder OM403 engine crankshaft
regarding different operating conditions in the engine cylinders. The angular
velocity was measured under laboratory conditions, by using an opto-

crankshaft. Additionally, a simplified mathematical model for instantaneous
angular velocity of the crankshaft has been developed which simulates the
same operating conditions in the engine cylinders as during the experiment. At
the end, the results of the measurement and mathematical model were analyzed
and compared. The goal of this paper is to give a practical contribution to
studies introducing the measured crankshaft speed as a key parameter for the

cylinders at steady state operation while monitoring the in-cylinder pressure of
one engine cylinder. The in-cylinder pressure and pressure pulsations in the
exhaust manifolds were measured by AVL piezo electric pressure transducers,
a data acquisition module (USB 6210 National Instrument), an AVL charge
amplifier and the Lab View software for synchronization and management of the
measuring equipment. The aim of this paper is to give a practical contribution
to studies identifying disturbances of engine working cycles by monitoring
parameters of exhaust gases.

Summary:
Human activities, in particular transport, are partially responsible for the
problems associated with the greenhouse effect, and therefore global warming.
The European Union is increasingly dependent on imported fossil fuel. From
the second side, oil products come from politically unstable regions, oil prices
are rising and resources are limited. This complex situation leads to significant
ecological and economical risks for society. The European Commission is
seeking to solve these issues through a series of initiatives, including many
that focus on the transport, which is almost fully dependent on oil. In this
context, it has launched every time a calls for projects that focus on biofuels.
Our research inside of the paper is redirected on the training to take action
with similar projects. We are analyzed here the possibilities for production of
biogas from landfill and agricultural crops. By upgrading biogas to bio-methane
we produce the high quality fuel for mobility systems causing lower exhaust
emission specifically particulate matter, sulfur compounds, non-methane
hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide, as well as smog and noise pollution in the
atmosphere.

This paper presents the method of modelling and design of the car body using
modern software tools, in order to obtain as much as possible realistic models
suitable for further analysis. The work is based on elements of aerodynamics
and vehicle dynamics and impact of external influences on it. Also, model
verification with numerical calculations was conducted in this research. After
a detailed analysis of the obtained results with CFD, it was concluded that
the model of the car with the geometric simplifications meets the criteria of
accuracy and this was completely capable for the further course of the analysis.
This paper presents the procedures for obtaining the results from a combination
of more modern tools (CCM+), which is certainly a trend in modern ways of
designing and constructing.

Summary:
This paper highlights a problem currently being experienced by new passenger
cars and heavy-duty trucks and buses: Despite meeting more stringent regulatory
standards for exhaust emissions during type approval, many vehicles have
significantly elevated emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) during in-use driving,
particularly when operating in urban traffic. In some cases, actual real driving
emission (RDE) levels may be as high as or higher than those from much older
vehicles with engines certified to more lenient emission standards. These high
off-cycle NOx emissions threaten efforts to improve ambient air quality in
many European cities. Finally, the paper analyzes the possibilities of control
of these off-cycle emissions and using portable emission measurement
system (PEMS) for testing vehicles under real driving conditions, as well as
the formation of a real driving cycle (RDC) for future emission control after in
2017.

An automobile bumper is a component, which contributes to vehicle
crashworthiness during front or rear collisions. Selection of the most suitable
material for the bumper involves the study of a large number of factors, such
as, mechanical, physical, and chemical properties as well as formability and
cost. This selection process can be regarded as a multi-criteria decision making
(MCDM) problem, which may be solved applying mathematical computations.
The use of recently developed MCDM methods for selecting the most preferred
material for the bumper is described in this study. Obtained results revealed
unanimously that high density polyethylene (HDPE) is the most suitable
material for this application.

Summary:
The research was conducted for the purpose of determining the possibility of
diagnosing faulty MAP sensor readings of an automobile spark ignition engine.
In that sense, an engine with no air-flow meter, operating under steady-state
conditions, was tested on the test stand. The engine fuel system was operating
in a closed-loop mode with the oxygen sensor. The tests were carried out in
several operating points, first with the engine operating without any faults
and then with a reading fault of a MAP sensor. Three different intensities of a
mentioned fault and their impact on the engine speed and MAP sensor signals
as well as on the injection pulse width and the spark angle were considered in
the study. The measured values were compared with the corresponding values
obtained with the engine operating under no-fault conditions. The results are
shown in the diagrams followed by the appropriate comments.

Summary:
Presented in the paper is a method for extracting the angular velocity variation
of an IC engine from the exhaust pressure pulsations. The method is based on
the so-called parametric (model-based) spectral estimation, and is capable of
detecting a narrow-band, time-dependent frequency variation in a signal using
only several signal samples at a time.
The procedure developed is demonstrated by application to data recorded
on two Diesel engines, whereby the rotational speed variation was also
measured. The respective angular velocity variations were extracted from the
records of pressure pulsations in the exhaust systems of the two engines, and
then compared with the measured ones. Very good accuracy was achieved in
both cases.
The method can also be used for special spectral analyses of short signals,
where the application of FFT-based spectral estimation would result in a very
coarse frequency resolution.

Summary:
Some serious forecasts say that the number of motor vehicles will double by
2025, but with little likelihood of sufficient quantities of energy sources to
support the needs. Even a thought of unlimited energy sources is a way towards
a complete destruction of life on our planet. Every engaged energy source:
from the outer space, from the Earths core, from fuels resulting from everyday
life activities, remains in our environment as a parasitic content that modifies
the ecological and genetic conditions on Earth.
Since there is a wide range of alternative fuels, this is a good opportunity to
undertake a thorough review of what there is available to us. Considered are
both existing and future fuels for internal combustion (IC) engines.
Today`s super-tractors, backbone of the trend towards large farm
operations, are all based on highly improved engine-vehicle matches, resulting
in further improvements in the energy-efficient use of farm machinery.

Engine technologies whose application can reduce the impact of friction and
wear are surface coatings and the lubricants low-viscosity or with appropriate
additives. As a contribution, we applied the eco-tribological knowledge during
construction of IC engines and their spare parts. The result of the researches
was patented prototype of the aluminium piston coated or modified with tribo-
material in area of skirt. Modification of the piston was realized by inserting
two removable pads (plates) of graphite. Another option is the piston with
tribological pads of brass into which are inserted tribo inserts of graphite in
the form of a sphere (nodules). The main task of the tribo-pads is to decrease
friction between piston and cylinder, especially at engine-starting regime.
This is confirmed during researches whose the results are presented inside of
manuscript.

In sustainability assessment of waste treatment scenario the most used economic
indicators are: investment costs, operating costs, fuel costs, energy costs and
revenues. Cost estimation is relatively crude in solid waste management,
without enough available data. In this paper focus is made on the development
of mathematical model with the aim to calculate the economic indicators
(investment costs, operating costs, and revenues) of waste-to-energy treatment
technique, depending on the composition and quantity of waste. The model
is based on the analysis of the structure of costs and revenues, and supported
by the data available on the field and in the literature. The model is applied
to calculate the indicator for the waste-to-energy treatment technique, and
verified in the case study the city of Ni. It has been shown that developed
model is sufficiently general to be applicable to any case study, because it
contains local elements.

The most used and established method for detecting the effects of the product
on the environment is a method of life cycle assessment (LCA), which analyzes
the effects of the product on the environment in all five its life stages: design,
materials selection, manufacture, use, and ultimately its removal. At the same
time LCA is an important tool when we deciding on choosing and optimizing
the technology and raw materials. In the frame of our study is discussed LCA
method as an useful tool in metal production, metallurgy and mechanical
engineering praxis. We analyzed potential application of LCA for the Slovenian
steel producers and automotive industry, especially the case of ACRONI. Heavy
plates of typical steel grades from ACRONI production program were analysed
during the first pilot project, and in the frame of the second project a new
generation of supercharger housing AUDI EVO was analysed.

Municipality Nevesinje, as undeveloped, herzegovinian municipality, located
in the south of the Republic of Srpska, during pre-war period was a place
where strong wood-processing industry existed. Today, through process of
transition and privatization in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the most of the pre-
war company is off or in bankruptcy process. Although the most of enterprises
are off, very strong developed infrastructure network has survived until today,
in the form of industrial halls, operation and road network. Nevesinje is today
municipalitiy with significant forest potential, with significant road infracture
needed to transport raw materials and finished products. The most significant
thing, that Nevesinje discern from others municipalitises in Herzegovina is
the proximity to forest resources over the town and industrial area. Through
this work we will try to consider all aspects and possibilities to initiate wood
production in the municipality of Nevesinje. We will analyze the legal status
of most commercial enterprises in Nevesinje that are extinguished or in
bankruptcy process, forest resources at the disposal in municipality Nevesinje,
operating costs, transportation and the sustainability of forest resources for the
next period. In the conclusion, we will offer expertise on the possibilities of
launching wood processing industry in Nevesinje as well as examine the cost
and duration of this project.

Optimization of machining parameters is of prime importance for increasing
machining efficiency and economics. Among traditional optimization methods,
in recent years, modern meta-heuristic algorithms are being increasingly
applied for solving machining optimization problems. The aim of this paper
is to investigate possibilities of discrete Monte Carlo (MC) method for solving
machining optimization problems which were solved by the past researchers
using meta-heuristic algorithms. To analyze the applicability and performance
of discrete MC method, two case studies of machining optimization problems,
were considered. Although MC method is stochastic in nature, while solving
machining optimization problems it has been demonstrated that probability of
finding optimal value over 99.99% is achieved within few seconds. Specific
features and merits of discrete MC method were also discussed.

On European level, the requirements regarding the energy features of the
buildings are given in the Energy Performance of Buildings Directives (EPBD).
The EPBD has set up a common framework according to which the respective
countries which are EU members, are supposed to work out or adjust their
respective national regulations aiming to improve the energy performance of
buildings. In compliance with EPBD, the member countries must establish
the minimum requirements regarding the energy sustainability of the building
and building elements to the purpose of achieving cost-optimal levels. EPBD
proposes a Comparative Methodology Framework, to be used by the member
countries when elaborating the comparisons between the minimum energy
requirements and the calculated cost-optimal levels. This paper gives a survey

In the last few decades, man is more focused on nature and his natural
surroundings as one of the inexhaustible sources for perfecting his appliances
in the field of aerodynamics, hydrodynamics etc. One example of this is
thermovision. It is known that reptiles (snakes) target their prey with their
thermovision sight. That enables them an easy hunting of the prey even in
the total dark. Some prey birds target their prey with the sight similar to the
thermovision, only this sight manifests itself in the ultraviolet spectrum. Falcon
targets the urine trails on the grass left by rodents or smaller mammals. In the
ultraviolet spectrum, the animal urine trails are marked as yellow-green stains
so that falcon focus its sight to the stains and is enabled to see the smallest
movements of animals. Based on these experimental findings, man gathered
some valuable information which improved the usage of thermal imager.
Thermal imager has great application in Mechanics, Constructing,
Electronics, Energetic, Medicine, Specialized Police and Military Units and,
lately, in the Fire units as well.

Summary:
This paper provides an analysis of the condition of real industrial system after
the implementation of new technical and technological solution of the paper
machine dewatering system in the production industry system SHP Celex a.d.
Banja Luka. The new technical and technological solution is the use of new
type of polyurethane cover of the paper machine suction press roll. Compared
to the previously used rubber coat, the dewatering performance is significantly
positively changing. The measure of change of the condition of system is the
increase of dryness of paper which unambiguously determines a lower specific
energy consumption per ton of paper produced. Another important value is
the increase of lifetime of new coat since the new type of material bears much
higher workloads without compromising the performance. From the aspect
of maintenance, the new technical and technological solution enables an
increase in the interval between two consecutive cycles of grinding of suction
press roll cover. Since those are the planned annual cycles of grinding and
significant costs of grinding of the coat, the significant economic effects have
been achieved within the maintenance plan. The end result is a significant
economic benefit of the business production system.

innovative way of on-board Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to directly assess the
integrity of aircraft structures. The principle of SHM is comparable to the human
nervous system. Discrit sensors which form a network remain permanently

inevitable structural damage, mechanical loads or abnormal conditions. The
sensors are interrogated via an on-board or off-board diagnostic system and
information on the structural state is reported to maintenance team.

Exhausted system motor SUS ejects gases and solids during their work. The
percentage of these substances is dangerous and harmful especially in a limited
ie. indoors space. Negativity intensity depends on the type of construction and
technical equipment of these spaces in which they are issued. It refers to the
technical inspection stations, workshops and closed underground, overground
public and commercial garages. On the technical inspection stations by the legal
regulations those hazardous and noxious substances derives with prescribed
exhausted systems. In this way, the degree of risk vulnerability of employees
is reduced to a lower level provided that the systems are properly applied.
The question is what level of risk degree of danger and hazards in the area
of service centers for passenger and commercial vehicles driven by internal
combustion engines. In addition, an increasing number of large trading houses
that make up ground and underground garages for their clients, are equipped
with exhausted systems, the question is what level of danger and hazards is in

Summary:
In the literature and practice, the unplanned and unexpected event is defined
as an accident. The consequences of an accident may be manifested in the form
of worker injury, the termination of a technological process and/or damage to
the material and natural resources. The risk is any real or potential condition
that can cause an accident, that is, the risk is a prerequisite for the accident.
The prevention of accidents is achieved by elimination, control and other
measures to reduce risk. The main objective of the security and safety at work
is to protect man from injuries, damages and health disorders. Knowing the
causes of accidents at work is a prerequisite to protect and to act preventively
to avoid realization of the accident.
Many engineering methods are used in the analysis of causes and
consequences of errors that affect the quality, reliability and safety of the work
process. An often-used and efficient method is cause-effect. The paper presents
a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) method and its application for the detection of
underlying causes of accidents at work in the real system.
