PC Assembly/Disassembly with Software Installation

ICT for a Better and Safe Philippines

CONTEST PACKAGE:

1st Part PC ASSEMBLY/ DISASSEMBLY (40 PTS.)

1. The PC Assembly / Disassembly competition is open to Grade 9 and Grade 10 High School
Students. The participant should be officially enrolled this S.Y. 2017 2018 in the General Emilio
Aguinaldo National High School.

2. Contestants must bring their own tools (e.g. screwdrivers, pliers, anti-static strap, etc.).

3. PC Disassembly
a. Perform PC Disassembly with the allotted time of 30 minutes.
b. Participant will disassemble the computer in the fastest time possible.
c. No parts, components, and screws left behind.
d. Watcher/Timer/Committee/Judges will check for possible error and record it on the rating
sheet.

4. PC Assembly
a. Perform PC Assembly, allotted time 40 minutes.
b. Participants will assemble the computer in the fastest time possible.
c. Time will be recorded after the contestant stops their time.
d. Participant must inform the Watcher/Committee/Judges immediately to stop his time when
the computer displays its BIOS.
e. Watcher/Timer/Committee/Judges will check for possible error and record it on the rating
sheet.

Key for Deduction/Elimination

a. One error is equal to 3 minutes additional to his/her time.
b. Contestant who damaged/destroyed major PC components (such as motherboard, processor,
memory and power supply) will automatically be eliminated from the said contest.
c. In case the participant was not be able to run the computer right after the assembly, he is
allowed to conduct troubleshooting but he must not exceed his time of 40 minutes.
d. In case of a tie, the least number of irregularities will be determined as the winners by
Technical Committee. Decision of the Technical Committee is final.

2nd Part OS, APPLICATIONS AND DRIVERS INSTALLATION (40 PTS.)

a. Perform OS/APPS and Drivers installation with allotted time of 1 hour and 20 minutes.
b. Participants will install the operating system in the fastest time possible.
c. Time will be recorded after the contestant stops their time.
d. Participant must inform the Watcher/Committee/Judges immediately to stop his time when
the OS, APPLICATIONS AND DRIVERS INSTALLATION are completely installed.

FOR THE ASSEMBLED COMPUTER

a. Format and install the hard drive with Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 32bit
b. Make the following drive partitions:
1. First partition 30 Gb. for drive C:\ which will be renamed as OS
2. 2nd partition 30 Gb. for drive D:\ which will be renamed as Data_Files
3. 3rd partition 20 Gb. for drive E:\ which will be renamed as Utilities
Note: After hard drive partitioning, change the disk type from Basic to Dynamic.

c. Install the following applications:

1. Antivirus Software (Microsoft Security Essential with latest Antivirus Definitions)
2. Microsoft Office 2013
3. Adobe Reader
4. VLC Player
5. Google Chrome
6. WinRAR
d. Install the hardware installer for the following:
1. Network Interface Connector (NIC)
2. Display adapters
3. Media Control Device
4. Sound Controller
Note: Once done, leave the Device Manger windows open.
e. Change the Account Name to ICT GEANHS
f. Change the Computer Name to ICT1
f. Rename the network workgroup as ICT GROUP
