BUDDY WATCH

(Being a source of unity in the family)

OBJECTIVES:
1. To establish importance of accountability between brothers and sisters, allowing them
to grow as sons and daughters of God.
2. To exercise their ability to take care and handle people.
3. To give them a sense of belongingness at the start of their YFC life.

(Note: for club meetings that are 1 hour only, the speaker can give just one guide
question to talk about for the EMMAUS WALK.)

DYNAMICS:
1. After the Opening Worship, the facilitator will start the activity with an orientation of
whats going to happen for the morning.
2. The facilitator will then announce the assigned Buddy for each participant
3. Introduce the main activity: EMMAUS WALK and will give instructions on how should
be done.
4. Activity Proper should be at least 30 minutes.
5. Processing of the activity by the facilitator. Voluntary sharing of their EMMAUS WALK
experience to the big group.

EXPANDED TALK OUTLINE

I. Orientation

After our Youth Camps, we have learned a lot of things about who Jesus is,
His plans for us, and how we can grow more into a deeper relationship with Him.
Our spirits are so high that we think we can do anything. However, this is not always
the situation. There will be times when we feel down and low, losing the fire in our
hearts. This usually happens when we are by ourselves and we are alone.
 Thus, God wants to remind us that we cannot do this on our own. We need
FRIENDS to lift us up, to encourage us, to pray for us and to be with us in the most
trying times of our life.

(NOTE: The Facilitator should then announce the Buddy System, after which he/she
will explain the main activity: EMMAUS WALK)

II. Activity Proper: EMMAUS Walk

EMMAUS WALK is taken from the Bible where in tow strangers were talking to
each other while walking without realizing that Jesus is walking with them.
(NOTE: Write the whole story of EMMAUS WALK). This is the chance for you and
your Buddy to have a heart to heart talk and have an in depth knowledge about
each other.

REMINDERS ON EMMANUS WALK:

P Pray. Begin and end with a prayer.

A Affirm. Being buddies, we need to affirm each other to
show that we care.
R Respect. You are accountable to Your Buddy. Whatever you
have talked about should be kept between you and
your buddy.
T Trust. Since the Lord has given you your buddy, you must
learn to trust him/her with all your heart.
N Nurture. Commit yourselves to take care of the friendship
that God has given you.
E Enjoy. Have fun and enjoy the moment being with a new
found friend.
R Radiate. Let God be radiated in the friendship that you
have. Let other people see Christ in that friendship.

Our friends, our buddies, are Gods gift to us. God uses them to bring His
messages of love to us. Today was an opportunity for us to strengthen or start a
friendship with one another. Our buddies are given to us so that we always have an
assurance of someone that we can trust. During our life in the community, God will
continue to reveal things to us through our partners. He will continue to give us
buddies who can journey with us in our walk with God. We may have not been able
 to share everything now, but we can trust in Gods gift to us. Slowly, our friendship
with each other will grow.

V. Closing
Invite everyone into a prayer. Pray that their friendship in YFC continue to
grow, pray that trust, respect, and love will always be present in the relationships
they will gain in YFC. During prayer, ask each person to pray for one another.

End the prayer with a worship song. (E.g. Now That Your Near, Salvation Is Here)
