Tools & Shop Products Guide

NENG2500-04

The Tools & Shop Products Guide offers Caterpillar dealers and customers a wide
selection of general purpose serviceman's hand tools, tool boxes, shop supplies,
shop equipment and specialty tools.
All orders placed from the Caterpillar Miscellaneous Material Order System for this
publication will automatically place you on a subscription list. The subscription will
provide you with three Tools & Shop Products Guide Supplements containing
new tools and equipment introduced between the annual revisions of the
Tools & Shop Products Guide.
If you do not wish to receive the supplements and do not wish to be added to the
subscription list when you order, you must place a verbal order with your order analyst
and tell the order analyst at that time not to add your name to the subscription mailing
list. However, doing this will prevent you from receiving information on new part
numbers introduced over the next twelve months.

1-2 Ordering Procedure Introduction

T&SPG 2000

Ordering Procedure
The majority of the products listed in this publication are stocked at Caterpillar parts
facilities and are available from the Parts Distribution System using normal stock or
emergency ordering routines. These include hand tools, pneumatic tools, torque and
electronic tools, reconditioning tools, welding products, certain chemicals, preventative
maintenance tools, etc.
Certain products in this guide, however, are not stocked but are available to dealers using
either made as ordered (MAO) routines or for most dealers through direct ship
arrangements. For many direct ship arrangements, particularly large shop equipment
items, the terms of sale are FOB supplier with all freight and (as applicable) export
packaging at the buyer's expense.
Ordering routines and availability vary with stocked and not-stocked products. Specific
information about ordering and availability is included at the beginning of each tool article
unless the ordering procedure is Normal and the availability is Worldwide. In that case
Ordering and Availability will not appear. When there are exceptions to this information,
the exceptions will be noted in the tool article, usually in a table.

Product Heading
Ordering: XXX
Availability: XXX
Warranty: X

Code words describe the type of ordering procedure. The ordering codes are:

STOCKED (or Normal):

These part numbers can be ordered using normal stock or emergency ordering routines. If
the product is not currently available at your parts distribution facility, it will be allocated
from Morton. If the ordering procedure is Normal, ordering information will not appear at
the beginning of the tool article.
MAO:
These products are made as ordered (MAO) by the supplier, but are supplied through the
Parts distribution system. Normal stock or emergency ordering procedures apply except
that orders for MAO products must be confirmed and are non-cancelable.
DIRECT SHIP 3A or E (ANTARES):
These products are not stocked or available using MAO routines. Instead, they are shipped
direct from the supplier to the dealer (NACD and CACO) or to an overseas consolidation
point specified on the shipping instructions. Orders are non-cancelable.
To order these products, dealers must place a Class 3A order on DTS or a Class E order
on ANTARES. No emergency service charge will apply. For COSA Dealers only, orders for
these products will be rejected at order entry. COSA dealers must then contact their order
analyst in Grimbergen, specifying method of shipment (ocean or air, plus destination).

Introduction Freight Terms 1-3

T&SPG 2000

Freight Terms

STOCKED and MAO:

The same terms that apply when ordering Caterpillar parts from the Parts Distribution
system apply here.

DIRECT SHIP:
Most of these products are sold FOB supplier, with freight either prepaid by Caterpillar
and added to your invoice or shipped collect.
For some products, Caterpillar absorbs the freight to NACD dealers or to port of exit.
For certain direct ship products, the total landed cost to dealers outside NACD and
CACO is very high. This applies in particular to small value items which carry very high
landing costs (freight, forwarding fees) in relation to the dealer net price. For this reason,
certain products in this publication are not available to dealers in COSA, CFEL, or COFA
under normal conditions and are identified as such on the information bar. If no acceptable
local alternative exists, CSTG will provide a freight quote for the dealer to make a
commercial decision.
In order to make the direct ship products more accessible to dealers outside NACD and
CACO and thereby significantly reducing total landed costs, CSTG is converting many of
these products to MAO or stocked. As this occurs, you will be notified of these changes
and, of course, they will be reflected in the future updates of this publication.

Prices/Returned Goods

Prices
Prices are subject to change without notice. Standard dealer payment terms apply for any
product ordered from this guide with a Caterpillar part number (whether it is stocked or
not).
Service Technology makes every effort to price our products competitively. If you have a
price complaint we encourage you to contact CSTG on one of our toll free 800 numbers,
our Geneva, Switzerland numbers or by faxing us.
Regular dealer net and consumer list prices can be found in the Caterpillar Dealer Parts
Pricing Medium or in the Parts Distribution DTS Inquiry system.

Returned Goods
All product, listed in this publication, is returnable except:
Direct ship and Made as Ordered (MAO) items.
Chemicals and hazardous materials.
Electrical test/diagnostic tools and associated accessories.

Dealers should refer to the Cat Dealer Numerical Parts Record (NPR) to determine if a
questionable item is returnable or not.
