Grammar: Type 2 conditional, expressing advice, relative pronouns.
Vocabulary: a. environmental issues (key words: endangered species, air
pollution, rainforest, logging companies, acid rain);
b. travelling (key words: guest, to book a room, themed
rooms, reception desk baby-listening facility, maid, waiter, sauna, guide)

1. Purpose-

a) The effectiveness of the learning process, if the Ss. have attained the objectives set for
the given stage in the learning process.
b) The Ss. progress along the curriculum, their strenghts and weaknesses.
c) Deficiencies of the learning process, the Ss typical mistakes
d) The Ss real language proficiency, their ability to use the language individually and
actively.
e) if the teaching methods and the learners characteristics are well matched;
f) if the teacher can go on the next chapter or should insist on certain aspects previously
discussed;

a) Objectives of the test:

O1 given a text which is divided into seven paragraphs, the students will be able to
read the advertisment and match the headings to the paragraphs;
O1 given a gap filling exercise, the students should be able to match the problems to
the advice;
O3 given a gap filling exercise, the students will be able to complete the sentences
with words from the box;
O4 given a gap filling exercise the students will be able to complete the sentecens
with the correct form of the verb in brackets taking into consideration type 2 conditional
sentences
O5 given the structure from exercise 5, the stundents should be able to complete the
sentences using the relative pronouns who, which. where.

c) Frequent and common mistakes:

1. Some students failed in matching the heading to the correct parahraph, this signaling a
poor comprehension of the text presented;
2. Some learners had problems in completing the sentences with the past form of the
verbs in brackets, especially irregular verbs.
3. Some students have incorrectly matched the items from column A and their
descriptions from column B with the appropiate relative pronoun.

d) Preventive measures for improving Ss knowledge in grammar:

1. To give further practice in reading new texts on various themes, each text being
previously introduced by certain vocabulary exercises;
2. To revise the irregular verbs list, second column.
3. To raise Ss awareness in using relative pronouns in various types of exercise, both
grammar and vocabulary ones.
