Quantity
If there is a dispute over the quantity of fuel delivered, it is not sufficient to record a quantity difference on the bunker
receipt. The contract for the supply of the fuel oil will have stated that the quantity deemed to have been delivered will be
in accordance with the suppliers gauges, so it is up to the Chief Engineer to satisfy himself as to the suppliers gauges/dips
before and at the end of delivery.
If there is a dispute over the quantity then a letter of protest should be issued immediately, otherwise it may be deemed
inadmissable. It should take the following form:
