BEGINNING : (5 minutes)
Who in this class likes to listen to music?
Who in this class likes to make up stories?
Who in this class likes to draw pictures?
Well today we're going to combine all three of those activities! Today we're going to listen to famous pieces of music, and you are
going to create a story and artwork about them. We need to use our imaginations today so get your brain ready!
The first thing we're going to do is listen to a song together and talk about how they sound and what we think of!

DEVELOPMENT : (60 MINUTES)

Listen to "Troika" by Prokofiev all together https://youtu.be/t9twJFnKIdA
How does this piece sound? Does it sound happy? Sad? Is it fast or slow? Do you picture anything in your imagination
when you hear this music?
Give examples of what I picture: snow, sleigh rides, white horses, etc. Draw my examples on the board
Give an example of a story I would write (my family is going on a sleigh ride to grandma's house. On the way, we
see different animals like deer, foxes, squirrels etc. We get to grandma's house and we celebrate Christmas
together)
Listen to "Morning from Peer Gynt" by Grieg all together https://youtu.be/gH1JMdWpJ54
How does this piece sound? Ask similar questions to the last piece.
Ask students what they picture? If they don't answer, give my examples (a park with grass, having a picnic, listening
to the birds) Draw their examples or my example on the board.
Ask the students to give an idea for a story.
Listen to "Winter" by Vivaldi all together https://youtu.be/uC-USAB530A
Ask students to write on a piece of paper what they hear (same options: happy, sad, angry, fast, what is in their
imagination?) ask for volunteers for answers
Ask students to draw a picture of what they are imagining (give them 5-10 minutes)
Ask students to share out loud a story.
EVALUATION: (80 MINUTES)
Have students do the process on their own with one or two different pieces (depending on the amount of time left). The
pieces to use will be:
