Father God,
Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Bless my church, Pastor Ron and his
family. Bless my teachers for teaching me Your Word. I believe your love is flowing
through me to other people. Help me to obey my parents so things will go well with
me and I will live a long life on the earth. I will tell how great You are and how much I
love You. I thank You that by Jesus stripes I am healed in my body and my soul.

God exalts us when we are humble.
Matthew 23:12b, He who humbles himself shall be exalted.
When God needs leaders, He looks for people who are respectful and
obedient. God wanted to lead the nation of Israel with anointed judges and
prophets who would be faithful to deliver His messages to them. But when
He saw that the people were determined to have a king like the other nations
around them, He told Samuel to crown Saul as the first king of Israel. Saul was
a humble man who obeyed Gods laws. He was tall and strong, but he knew he
needed the wisdom of God to lead the people. In his first years as king, Saul
depended on the Lord and reminded the people that it was important to do
things Gods way. Israel had many victories because of the pure attitude of
King Sauls heart toward God.
Staying humble when you have won the love and admiration of people can be
hard to do. When you are constantly hearing how great you are and you are
being successful at so many things, you can begin to think that you are smarter,
faster, and better than those who are looking up to you.
True humility is being willing to submit to Gods Word and depend on Gods
strength. Saul relied on God in the beginning of his reign as king, and that is why
he was so successful. Later, Saul began to think too much of himself.
He started doing things without going to God about them first.
If we acknowledge God as the strength and the wisdom of our lives, He will
exalt us to places where we can help others. God is looking for people He can
exalt as much as He humbles people who are proud.
