Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I would use this Plickers activity as a review after the students have been taught basic trigonometric functions
and the Pythagorean theorem. The Pythagorean Theorem would be taught as a discovery lab where students
were able to create a mental model(proof) of the theorem. Then moving from the Pythagorean theorem to
the introduction of sine, cosine, tangent, and their reciprocal functions. Students will break of into groups to
complete activities using these concepts. After a few days working with these concepts I would use the
Plickers activity as a formative classroom assessment to gauge student understanding.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: (What will the students do? What will the
teacher do? What materials are needed? How long with the activity last?)
The students will all be given their individual cards they can use to respond to the questions. Each of these
cards has a unique design with 4 sides, each representing a letter from A-D. The teacher will choose a multiple
choice question to display and allow the students time to respond. In order to respond the students must

rotate their card to the orientation which displays their desired letter choice on the top. Once all students
have answered the teacher can scan their cards using the Plickers app on a mobile device. Once all the
answers have been scanned the data will be displayed in graphs and charts on the screen. Once the teacher
views the result, immediate clarifications can be made if there seem to be any misconceptions, if not, the
teacher will display the next question until the activity is over. There are 14 questions and could take
anywhere from 10-30 minutes to complete depending on how the students respond.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
Multiple choice Multiple select True/False Yes/No
Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
I will display correct answers after the fact because I want the students to be able to know if they selected the
correct answer or not. This can allow for them to self-assess what information they need to look over as well
as open up the floor for questions and clarifications.
