SAE India Baja 2014

 The competition

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) founded in 1905 is an

international engineering society established to further develop
mobility on land, in air, and in space. SAE sets the standards in
fields such as ground vehicles, aerospace, refrigerants and fuel
cells, to name only a few of the areas currently in SAEs purview.
The organization sponsors intercollegiate events of which the MINI
-BAJA is the most prestigious event.

BAJA SAEINDIA
Originated as Mini BAJA, in the year 1976 at University of
Carolina, the event has spanned across six countries USA,
Mexico, South Africa, Korea, Brazil and India. BAJA SAE
challenges the students to design, fabricate and validate a single
seater fourwheeled off road vehicle to take part in series of
events spread over a course of 4 days. The events test the vehicle
for the sound engineering practices that have gone into it, the
agility of the vehicle in terms of gradability, speed, acceleration
and maneuverability and durability. Baja SAE India, co-sponsored
by Mahindra under the leadership of Dr. Pawan Goenka, is an
annual event conducted at NATRAX, Pithampur, Indore. The
event, which has excessive media coverage, is dignified by the
presence of Big names of the automobile industry such as
General Motors, Cummins, DC and Polaris.
 About Amrita

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a dream come true, a dream nursed by Mata

Amritanandamayi to have a centre of excellence in learning for the benefit of
all. Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma, one of the foremost
humanitarian leaders in the world today, is the Chancellor of the University. In
less than two decades, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has blossomed into a
multi-disciplinary, multicampus centre with headquarters at Coimbatore and
campuses at Amritapuri, Kochi, Bengaluru and Mysore, that offers over 150+
undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Engineering, Business,
Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Journalism, Biotechnology, Information
Technology, Arts and Sciences, Health Sciences, Education, Microbiology,
Hospital Management, Visual Media Studies, Communication, Social Work,
Nanosciences and Ayurveda.

Based on evaluation of all campuses and programs by a peer review

committee, the university has been accredited by the National Assessment and
Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an 'A' grade. In a recent review of Deemed
Universities by a high-power committee of reputed academicians, popularly
known as the Tandon Committee, set up by the Ministry of Human Resources
Development, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was placed in Category 1.
Research is a highly significant activity at the university. Centres of excellence
have been started in cutting-edge areas like Nano sciences, Biomedical
Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Molecular Medicine, Wireless Sensor
Networks, Computational Engineering & Networking, Cyber Security, Biostatistics,
Cancer etc. with the support of major national laboratories, industry leaders and
agencies like TIFAC, DBT, DST, ICMR, ISRO, DRDO, DBT, DIT, DRDO, BARC,
Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Media Lab Asia, Infosys, MDS Pharma, Biocon etc.
 The team
Team Agraganya Baja comprises of 25 budding engineers
passionate about designing, manufacturing, analysing
and marketing of an All-Terrain Vehicle through their Mini
Buggy named Airavat from Amrita SAE collegiate club,
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri. The club has a
glorious past being National champions of Efficycle,
securing a good rank for BAJA 2013, being the only Supra
racing team from Kerala and the list goes on.

These charismatic young boys are determined to conquer

the prestigious SAEINDIA BAJA event and gain a valuable
learning experience by redefining the power of creativity.

Our legacy
o 2011

Team Agraganya debuted for SAE SUPRA with Garud, an

F1 car prototype manufactured with college facilities.
Secured Best Suspension design award.

o 2012

Team Agraganya emerged National champions of

Efficycle event, held at Chandigarh, India & also bagged
the awards for Best Acceleration and Endurance.

o 2013

Team Agraganya, one among the two Kerala

participants of Baja SAE 2013 held at Pithampur, Indore.
 Our future

o Team Agraganya is preparing for the upcoming Baja

2014 held at NATRAX-(National Automobile Test Track,
Pithampur near Indore, Madhya Pradesh). We plan to
put the best off-road buggy weve ever built on the
track with no compromise on performance or safety
