EdTech 592
Artifact Rationale Statements
1.2 Using: Candidates demonstrate the ability to select and use technological resources and
processes to support student learning and to enhance their pedagogy.
EdTech 502: mLearning Activity
Have you ever gone on a field trip with a bunch of tiny humans?! It can be tricky to make
sure it is an educational experience for them. With this in mind, I created a pre-assignment
that would help enrich the students and better prepare them for when we actually go to
Heritage Park. The assignment was created with the task to make it user-friendly on any
mobile device. This artifact shows my ability to select the correct technological resources
for my students learning.
1.3 Assessing/Evaluating: Candidates demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate the
effective integration of appropriate technologies and instructional materials.
EdTech 501: School Technology Survey
The School Technology Survey was completed with the intention of creating a maturing
benchmark for the Delta Public Schools (pseudonym used). When completing this survey
I had an opportunity to sit down with two of the technology directors in our administration.
This was a great experience for me to not only see how technology was being integrated
into the district, but how they felt about it as well. This interview started a dialogue with
the administration that had never occurred before: "creating a technology plan." In addition
to the interview, I had a chance to really examine how I was using the technology the
district provided me. It allowed me to do a reflection of my classroom.
1.5 Ethics: Candidates demonstrate the contemporary professional ethics of the field as
defined and developed by the Association for Educational Communications and
Technology.
EdTech 501: Professional Code of Ethics
Parents, and the public in general, hold educators to higher standards because they are
entrusting them with their children and their well-being. To help educators exemplify and
keep certain ethical and moral integrity a code of professional ethics was put into place in
2001. The principles are intended to help aid members individually and collectively in
maintaining a high level of professional conduct (Eastman et al., 2008, p. 296). This code
will also hold them responsible to their commitment to themselves, to the public, and to
their profession. This paper address how I can demonstrate the contemporary professional
ethics of the field.
EdTech 502: Netiquette
Its important to have professional ethics, but it is just important to teach those ethics to
students. This site was created to help implement internet ethics in an elementary setting.
It gives various ways a teacher might help a student have professional ethics with being an
online user.
2.5 Ethics: Candidates design and select media, technology, and processes that emphasize
the diversity of our society as a multicultural community.
EdTech 541: Virtual Field Trip
Technology has the opportunity to showcase the endless amount of cultures found in the
world today. In this task, the students will take a virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo.
After their experience, they will document their journey and apply it to what they are
learning in the classroom. This assignment focuses on the use of technology to teach about
the rich diversity and culture.
3.5 Ethics: Candidates foster a learning environment in which ethics guide practice that
promotes health, safety, best practice, and respect for copyright, Fair Use, and appropriate
open access to resources.
EdTech 502: Copyright Scavenger Hunt
At the beginning of my MET journey, I created a website solely focused on teaching
elementary students about the word copyright. I created a WebQuest that allowed them to
learn what copyright means and the importance of remembering those laws while using
and implementing technology in their learning. This artifact shows how I promote and
respect the copyright laws.
4.2 Leadership: Candidates lead their peers in designing and implementing technology-
supported learning.
EdTech 537: Edu Blog
You can create and find a blog for everything. In the summer of 2016, I was able to create
a blog that allowed me to showcase some of the things that I do in my classroom and the
practices that I find most effective with my students. This allowed me to connect with my
peers and talk about how to properly and effectively implement technology.
4.3 Reflection on Practice: Candidates analyze and interpret data and artifacts and reflect
on the effectiveness of the design, development, and implementation of technology-
supported instruction and learning to enhance their professional growth.
EdTech 554: Course Reflection
One the greatest assessments to creating something is taking the time to reflect on the
usefulness and implementation of it. So many times I jump in thinking oh this will be great,
but in reality, it is a crash and burn. However, with reflection, I can take a moment and
think about what and where it went wrong. So the second time I jump in it isn't a hot mess
like before. In the EdTech 554 class, I had an opportunity to reflect on each task throughout
the semester and how each assignment benefited me and targeted what I learned.
4.5 Ethics: Candidates demonstrate ethical behavior within the applicable cultural context
during all aspects of their work and with respect for the diversity of learners in each setting.
EdTech 502: Accessibility Links
In the 2016-17 school year, I had a fourth grader reading 230 wpm and another student
who couldn't even read a sentence in a minute. Making sure both learners are advancing
can be a trail. But conquering that task is a necessary component as a teacher. Being able
to provide for a diversity of learners is key. By creating this accessibility links page it
shows how I apply learning to all students no matter the setting or educational range.
STANDARD 5 - RESEARCH
Candidates explore, evaluate, synthesize, and apply methods of inquiry to enhance learning and
improve performance.
5.1 Theoretical Foundations: Candidates demonstrate foundational knowledge of the
contribution of research to the past and current theory of educational communications and
technology.
EdTech 503: Group Presentation
While learning about the fundamental aspects of instructional design I had an opportunity
to work together with a group and create a presentation, that reviews the basic concepts of
instructional design covered in chapter one of our assigned reading. This presentation
brings together foundational knowledge and research to talk about current theories.
5.2 Method: Candidates apply research methodologies to solve problems and enhance
practice.
EdTech 501: Annotated Bibliography
Textbooks, novels, pictures books, etc. are being sold by the millions. Yet with the
advancements of technology and accessibility of eReaders, ebooks bring a whole new
world to the classroom. According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, "One of the
biggest stories in publishing right now is the promise and direction of eReaders"
(Bauerlien, 2009) eReaders are devices that enable you the ability to read something
electronically. As a teacher, I'm constantly looking for ways that will benefit my students
and help them succeed. I'm a huge lover of printed books and have that stacked pile by my
bed, however, eReaders provide an interactive experience for my students. Something that
I just can't deny them. I read five articles that break down the development of ebooks and
even addresses the pros and cons of them. This annotated bibliography shows my ability
to research methodologies to enhance my practice.
5.4 Ethics: Candidates conduct research and practice using accepted professional and
institutional guidelines and procedures.
EdTech 503: ID Report
In EdTech 503, I created a unit that was implemented in a second-grade classroom. The
unit involved research in books, using the Google Suites, and the research using the
internet. The report includes all the major components that would need to be included in a
report. This artifact shows my ability to conduct research and follow professional
guidelines and procedures.
