We have kept this option as least preferred because by increasing the duration of
maternity leave, businesses would be more skeptical about hiring / promoting /
giving responsibility to women, as these businesses are well and truly aware that
they would be losing that particular womans service for 4 months. So it would
actually act as a deterrent.

Going with the analogy of Fat, Middle and Slim being the companies, the

lesser burden of work on the common/not so well off people to prevent a
scenario which is harmful for all.
