Poverty has been one of the biggest problems that Pakistan faces today. It is rightly said

commitment has been reflected in different development plans. The Constitution of the country has
assigned a special importance to promoting general welfare of the people with a focus on alleviation of
poverty but unluckily Every government who take over the leadership of this country
have taken some effective actions but due to the loopholes in ineffective
policies, new construction projects and bureaucracy, the progress of poverty
alleviation has been disturbed severely. Despite these issues, Pakistan has made
notable advancement in dipping poverty. In recent previous years, governments
have launched different schemes for the betterment of the common people like
Benazir Income Support Programme, Tamer-e-Watan Programme, Pakistan Bait-
ul-Maal and welfares also are taking part to decrease the poverty in Pakistan
Causes
A number of factors explain the existence of and increase in poverty in the last decade. However, poor
governance is the key underlying cause of poverty in Pakistan
With regard to economic factors, decline in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate is the
immediate cause of the increase in poverty over the last decade.
Overpopulation illiteracy unequal distribution of resources corruption poor law and order
are chief causes of this poverty
Poor Governance in Pakistan had created uncertainty and lack of transparency in Government policies
resulting into loss of time and money through government corruption which created an unfavorable
environment for private sector investment
