A MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE

Welcome to CHILDREN FIRST SCHOOL! We all hope it will be a very good year for you and your child.
Here are a few reminders as we start the new school year:

All students are required to have an updated Health Record to be accomplished by their
parents/guardians.
If your child needs to take any medication at school, you must complete a PARENT REQUEST FOR
GIVING MEDICATION form. This form needs to be re-done every year. A physicians signature
is required for prescription medication. You may get this form from the school office or school nurse.

From time to time, you will be receiving health advisories from the school clinic to keep you updated
with current health trends.

Please make sure you have given us several phone numbers to reach you in case your child
gets sick or has an accident. It is absolutely essential that we be able to contact you at all
times. Please be sure to update us during the year if any phone number changes.

A few final reminders:

A fever is 37.8 C or above. Your child should not come to school with any temperature of 37.8 C
or over. Please do not give your child Paracetamol or any anti-pyretic and then send him
to school. They can attend school until they are fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of
medication.
Please do not send your child to school if he or she has:
o Vomited/ has 2 or more loose stools in the morning.
o An unexplained rash.
o Earache.
o Red or crusty eyelids or drainage from eyes.
o Headache, cough, sore throat, or congestion severe enough to interfere with attention to
school work.
o Flare-ups of asthma, that would make it difficult to work in school.

You must notify the office if your child will not be attending school. All absences must be verified.
All health-related absences must be provided with a medical certificate or if none, the parent
should accompany the student to the clinic to get the admission slip.
The nurse will keep the medical certificate for recordkeeping and will issue an admission slip to be
given to the students respective teacher.
Please contact the nurse if your child has any special health requirements or if you have any
questions /concerns.

Thank you in advance for helping make this year at Children First School as healthy as possible.
