ABOUT THE WRITER

Engr. Lizette Ivy Gacula Catadman was born on December 10, 1973 in Davao City,
Philippines, to parents: Orlando Toti Balbuena Catadman (deceased) and Editha Neri Gacula-
Catadman, a nursing educationist. She has one sister, Ms. Jerelyn Joy Gacula Catadman, a
Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She is single, still waiting for the man God will send her way.

She studied at Davao City Special School, Light Bringers School in Davao City, and Malalag
Central School in Maitum, South Cotabato now the province of Sarangani during elementary
finishing with Second Honors on March 1986. She studied at Malalag Barangay High School (now
Maitum National High School in Sarangani) for her first year in high school, and Central Philippine
University Development High School (CPUDHS), Iloilo City until March 1990 wherein she finished
With Honors and a National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) percentile rank of 99%.

Engr. Catadman graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at


Central Philippine University (CPU), Iloilo City on March 1995. She passed her PRC Licensure
Examination for Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) on October 1995. She earned her degree in
Master of Engineering, Major in Electrical Engineering, under a Department of Science and
Technology (DOST) Scholarship also at CPU wherein she presented her special problem paper
entitled, Computer Application Software for Power System Analysis II (Turbo C). She completed
her eighteen (18) units pursuant to a Diploma in Teaching at West Visayas State University
(WVSU), Iloilo City. She passed the PRC Licensure Examination for Professional Teacher on August
2008. She is currently pursuing a degree in Doctor of Management, Major in Development
Management, at CPU.

Engr. Catadman works as a faculty (Assistant Professor A3) of the Electrical and Electronics
and Communications Engineering (EE/ECE) Department, College of Engineering, CPU, since 1998;
and the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), CPU, for the Master of Engineering Program since 2005.
She is also a Review Instructor for Electrical Engineering at the National Review Center and
Services (NRCS), Iloilo City.

She earned at CPU the Glade Wilcox Professorial Chair Award from 2002 to 2005 and the
Russel Professorial Chair Award for 2007 to 2008.

Engr. Catadman has undergone training at Texas Instruments (Philippines), Incorporated


(TIPI) under their Advanced Work Appreciation Program (AWAP) from March to May 2003 wherein
she prepared and presented two research studies: An Evaluative Study of the Existing Equipment
Maintenance Procedures and Practices of Texas Instruments (Philippines), Inc. (TIPI) Test Area
and World Class Equipment Maintenance.

She is a resource speaker for the seminars on Equipment Maintenance: Theories and
Strategies, wherein she shared some of the knowledge and training she gained from TIPI.

Engr. Catadman served at CPU as adviser of various campus organizations like the
Engineering Student Council (ESC), San Rafael Centralians, Mindanao Centralians; Delta Epsilon
Fraternity/Sorority; and Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines Central
Philippine University Student Chapter (IIEE-CPUSC). She served in various College and University
Committees like the Cultural Affairs, Christian Life, University Day Celebrations, Faculty and Staff
Conventions, Commencement, Beauty Pageants, Accreditations, and more. She is the proud
adviser and co-trainor of the Engineering Poetry Choir from 2000 to 2003 and 2006 to 2008, in
which the group won First Place consistently in all these seven years.
In addition to these, she has attended, participated, and organized several seminars,
workshops, and trainings under CPU and the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the
Philippines Iloilo Chapter (IIEE-Iloilo), which were held around Western Visayas and Metro
Manila. She was elected as officer: Board of Director, PIO, Secretary, and Vice President for
Internal Affairs, of IIEE-Iloilo Chapter.

She is an active participant in numerous outreach activities on house wirings, repairs, and
rehabilitations; transmission line installations; installations, commissionings, and evaluations of
micro-hydro power plants and solar panels; and load surveys of energized communities around
Western Visayas under the EE/ECE Department, College of Engineering, CPU; in cooperation with
the CPU-Affiliated Non-Conventional Energy Center (ANEC) taking her to several hard-to-reach
places in the provinces of Iloilo, Antique, and Aklan.

She is also into writing poetry, feature articles, short stories, narratives, and such. Some of
her works were published in various newsletters, magazines, books, and websites. She was also
one of the hosts for the Cable TV Show, Steps of Faith, aired at CPU Alumni Channel, Sky Cable,
Iloilo from November 2002 to May 2007. She also served as quiz master for several local and
regional quiz shows.

She is also the author or writer of two textbooks used in the College of Engineering, CPU
entitled, Laboratory Manual for DC Circuits and A Compilation of Lecture Notes in Control System.

Engr. Catadman also tried her hand in theatre; first, by serving as all-around errand
personnel, to one of the ushers, to head usher, and to acting. She was a member of the
supporting cast of the stage play, Anatomiya ng Korupsyon, staged in November 2005 at
Assumption College, Iloilo City wherein she played the characters: Dr. Sanchez and Mrs. Centeno.
