themselves because of a compulsive fear of getting fat (Berk, Ch.5.6). Adolescents with anorexia develop a
distorted body image, becoming underweight as they see themselves as heavy and go on unhealthy strict diets.
One strategy that families can use to influence their adolescents learning and development during this period
of development is to encourage community volunteering and becoming more active within the community.

Adolescence are faced with significant challenges that can keep them from
