Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Prior to the activity, students will solve addition and subtraction word problems in whole group. The teacher
will have some problems displayed on the Smartboard and students will solve them in their math journal
using any manipulatives they need. As students finish each problem, the teacher will the review ways on how
to solve and get the correct answer.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Each student will get an IPad to complete the addition and subtraction word problems. The teacher will read
the addition and subtraction word problems out-loud so everyone can hear. Students will follow along on
their iPad and answer the question the best they can. Manipulatives will be available for students If they need
it. There is 8-word problems so the activity should last between 10-15 minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
After each question, the correct answer will be displayed.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After, the activity the teacher will go over the correct answers with the students. The teacher will show the
students how to come up with the correct answers using manipulatives or the various ways of solving
addition and subtraction word problems.
How will the data be used?

All the students data of correct and incorrect answers will be collected for the teacher to use. The data will
be used for differentiating instruction for students and to monitor student progress. What questions got
missed the most will tell me what I need to re-teach. If a group of students missed some of the same
questions I can group them together for math centers to help them get a better understanding of the word
problem.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity

I have never tried using Quizlet to collect data before. It will be very useful to see right away what questions
students get right or wrong and use that data to help me. I hope this will help students learn in a different
way instead of using a pen and paper to answer a question they can use technology something that they are
familiar with.
