Technology advances at a high rate.

These advancements are mostly for the better, the medical

field shows this the most. One that I have experienced first hand is Laparoscopic surgery. The
theory of it first started around 936-1013AD by an Arabian physician. Then later put into testing
by George Kelling in 1901. Later taking a huge leap in 1987 with the introduction of smaller
computer chips and camera technology. Due to these advancements when I had to get my
gallbladder removed and a tubal ligation performed this reduced not only the risks involved but
also decreased the recovery time needed. Due to these methods procedures like these are now
out patient and no longer need the patient stay at the hospital.

Another advancement is medical nuclear technology. One such advancements is Myocardial

perfusion imaging. With this imaging we are able to map the blood flow in the human body to
determine heart disease issues and how doctors should best proceed with treatments. Though
with nuclear technology we run into one of the few bad that comes with it. There are many types
of nuclear materials out there but all of them take very specific handling and safety precautions.
If these types of materials are not handled properly we encounter issues like Rocky Flats on our
very own soil. Im familiar with this case in particular due to the fact that my boyfriends family
live with in a few miles of the factory. The soil was saturated and any water well and piping had
to be lined in lead. Due to the mishandling of the materials there are several issues beyond just
extra work to piping such as direct effect to the health and wellbeing of people living in the area.
Cancer being listed among them as well as air pollution and the health effects that can follow by
breathing it. This also has cause and effect to plant and animal life in the area as well.

As we make advancements we look to future technology and the wonders that they may bring.
One that I find very exciting is Neuralink being developed by Elon Musk and his associated
companies. Combining out brains with AI makes me think of the possibilities that may come. Not
only possible medical advancements that can help monitor our health with read outs to our
doctors but also entertainment that we can enjoy as well. Medically we can look at cybernetic
prosthetics possibly becoming a viable option. As for entertainment we may have full dive virtual
reality. Along with the wonders these may bring to us we do have to think about security even
more. These kinds of things would not just put our devices at risk but ourselves as well. The
second is one that can have application at some point but covers more of a theory to advance
AI. Quantum consciousness is a theoretical look into what consciousness is. Depending on the
answers that are found in this itself we are able to look at advanced AI or even development of
actual intelligence. With this we run into two aspects that can be foreseen easily. The good
aspect is that we can advance how we operate and the functions of day to day life both
personally and professionally. How ever we run into not only security issues that come with it
but social issues. At what point of consciousness development do we consider the possible
rights of the entity itself.

Jacob Bronowski - Science is a very human form of knowledge. We are always at the brink of
the known; we always feel forward for what is to be hoped. Every judgment in science stands on
the edge of error and is personal. Science is a tribute to what we can know although we are
fallible.

Bonus- May science always inspire us.
