SAFETY GUIDE LINES FOR MONSOON


Excavation

1. All excavated pits must be barricaded properly (hard/soft).


If depth is more than 2meter, hard barrication shall be done at a distance of 1 meter from the edge
If depth is less than 2meter, soft barrication shall be done at a distance of 2meter from the edge.
2. Excavated materials shall be stacked 1.5mtr/half the depth of the excavated pit whichever is more,
away from the edge of the pit.
3. Excavations shall be slopped properly with proper stairs/ladder for easy entry & exit.
4. Vehicular movement must be restricted near edge of the excavated areas.
5. No person should be present inside the pit whenever dewatering was in progress.
6. All personnel entering the pit strictly use gum shoes.
Electrical Safety
7. Proper earthing & ELCB/RCCB is to be ensured in all electrical operated machines.
8. All distribution boxes, Isolators & electrically operated machines are to be raised to a minimum of
500 mm height from the ground to protect from rain water logging.
9. All electrical live cables must be insulated properly & they must be laid above the ground
(10ft.)/under ground (1ft)/vehicular movement (10ft.) on wooden support, insulated joints must be
protected properly.
10. All electrical jobs must be avoided in water logged area.
11. Rain protection/shed to be provided for all Welding Machines, Power Distribution Boxes (PDBs) &
other Electrical Equipments.
12. Lightening arrestor must be provided in all high rise structures with proper earthing.
13. No person should be allowed to work on any electrical job without shock proof shoes & hand gloves.
14. Concerned Electrical Engineers must check thoroughly all electrical appliances prior to engaging the
workmen for electrical related jobs.
15. Workmen should be educated about the hazards associated with electrical job & their Precautionary
measures.
16. Electrical shutdown must be obtained before starting the job where ever necessary.
17. Unauthorized electrical connections/tapping must be stopped.
General
18. Loose sheets/ materials must be stacked properly at higher elevation, they should be properly
secured.
19. Loose & broken sheets must be replaced, as they fly off during stormy weather.
20. Dust accumulation at roof, staircases, walk ways, platforms etc. should be cleared otherwise the dust
may gather weight due to rain water resulting into collapse of the structural.
21. Water drainage system to be maintained properly to avoid flooding.
22. Pot holes & pits on road to be repaired & leveled. If unavoidable they should be properly barricaded.
23. Over loading & over speeding of the vehicles to be strictly controlled.
24. It is mandatory to use light during night driving inside plant premises
25. Uncovered drain openings must be covered.
26. Height work is not permitted during heavy wind, lightening, rain.
27.
All are advised to take necessary preventive measures in above areas to avoid any untoward incident during
