Customer Complaint: Navigation is not tracking actual position properly .

1. Before beginning this module, be sure a battery charger is connected to the


vehicle.
2. Connect SDS / DAS to the vehicle and follow path to access Navigation:
Control Units / Information and communication / Audio, video, navigation and
telematics / Navi.
3. Enter / Access Fault Codes. Are there any fault codes present?
YES NO
4. If yes, list the fault(s) below.

5. Enter / Access the fault code. What do you observe with SDS/DAS as the test
is being entered (keep your eyes on the screen)?

6. According to SDS, does N112 (Telecommunication Control Module) have the
D611 code present or not present (Hint: Press F1 if needed to see previous
screen. Press F5 to return to the test when done)?

Note: The antenna splitter A2/5 is located above and behind the Rear SAM
N10/2. At the current time this information is not present in either WIS or
StarFinder.
14. Using a DVOM, perform test Test of Cable A2/49a2 (GPS Antenna) (Open
Circuit). Record your results below.
Note: The antenna splitter A2/5 has one cable that connects to it from A2/49a2
on one end. The other end has two cables. One cable goes to the Navigation
Processor and is connected to the black lock clip. The other cable goes to the
Telecommunications Control Unit and is connected to the red lock clip.

16. If not already done, please reconnect the cable the Navigation Processor N41/1
and to the Antenna Splitter A2/5.

18. Enter /Access CTEL/TELE-AID. (Remember: Tele-Aid uses GPS for vehicle
location purposes)

19. Enter /Access Fault Codes. Select the option, Perform a self-test and then
read out fault codes.
20. Answer F3 (YES) for the question, Could the test tone be heard at both
speakers?
21. Select the option, Control unit TELE-AID, fixed installation cellular telephone.
Are there any codes present relating to GPS reception? YES NO
22. Exit out of fault codes and Enter / Access Complete list of fault codes. Please
list the fault codes below that pertain to the GPS Antenna.

23. Back out of Complete list of fault codes to Tele-Aid main selection page.
24. Disconnect the cable at Antenna Splitter A2/5 for Tele-Aid. Is there a warning in
the instrument cluster? YES NO
25. If yes, please write the displayed message below.

26. Enter /Access Fault codes once again. Follow the same step as in question 18
-20. Now do you have any fault codes for GPS Antenna? YES NO
27. If yes, what is the fault code?

28. Enter /Access this fault code. Choose the test, Test of Cable GPS Antenna
(open circuit).
29. What is the similarity of this test as compared to the open circuit cable test with
the Navigation Processor?

30. Keep the cable unplugged from the splitter. Exit out of CTEL/TELE-AID.
31. Enter / Access NAVI once again and go into Fault codes.
32. Enter /Access the D303 fault code as completed previously. What do you
observe with SDS/DAS as the test is being entered (keep your eyes on the
screen)?

33. Comparing question 32 and question 7, what is the difference (Hint: Press F1 if
needed to see previous screen. Press F5 to return to the test when done)?

34. Keeping in mind the Tele-Aid cable is still disconnected, what conclusion can
you draw from this? Discuss this among your group.

35. Exit out of the test to the Navi main selection page.
36. At the Antenna Splitter A2/5, switch the leads. Disconnect the cable for
Navigation and plug into the Tele-Aid terminal and plug the already
disconnected Tele-Aid cable into the Navigation terminal.
37. Enter into fault codes and erase the codes by pressing F9. This will ens ure all
the codes are properly erased.
38. Back out of fault codes and then enter back into fault codes. Are there any
codes present now? YES NO
39. By switching the leads, can the Navigation Processor N41/1 be eliminated as
the cause of the problem? YES NO
40. Bases on your diagnosis, what is the faulty component?

41. Reinstall the antenna leads to the original position, perform a quick test with
SDS and erase all fault codes.
