On above date and time, officers were dispatched to a knife complaint at an apartment complex in the
1200 block of St. Germain St. E, St. Cloud, Benton County. The suspect, Elija Dale Creech, 31 from St.
Cloud called 911 and told the operator that he had a stabbed a male at his apartment and that the victim
was going to die. Officers located the victim, a 20 year old male from St. Cloud (NPA), at the scene with
several knife wounds. Investigation revealed that Creech and the victim had an argument over playing
magic cards, and that verbal argument led to Creech hitting the victim in the face with a rubber mallet, and
stabbing the victim 7 times. Victim had stab wounds on the front, sides and back of his neck, and stab
wound to his cheek. The victim was transported to St. Cloud Hospital via ambulance and was treated for
substantial injuries that are not known to be life threatening at this time. Creech was taken into custody
without incident. Creech is currently at the Benton County jail, and is facing charges of 1st and 2nd Degree
assault.

On 7/28/17@ approx. 1100 hours, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search
warrant at the suspects apartment. Prior to the execution of the search warrant, the St. Cloud Fire
Department Hazardous Materials Response Team conducting air quality tests due to information learned
during the investigation, combined with a review of Creechs criminal history showing a conviction in 2013
for possession of an explosive with intent, and of and the possibility of hazardous materials on site. The
air quality tests, along with the testing of several unknown substances located at the scene, all were
negative for hazardous materials. Investigators seized several pieces of evidence related to the
investigation.
