Sirs, Ham’

Please be advised in respects to the American

magazine publication, FA’l’B Ma.gazine tor Janunary
1996, on page 18, the UFO Om-ontole
written b7
Antonio Hunees, there is something tnat.the Brit-

should.know.

The ’UFO equasion, is our hum.an. equasion.

Th.e answer is simple. To begin with a. goodly pOl’’’’

Roswell, starring actor Keil McGlauclin.
Whel’e theproblem lies, is that.there were two

What oomplioates this oft-world intermarrage liason

to the Barth held human equasion, is that tor the
most part their intertreanoe had helped us and the
problem oadt be remidied, suoh as trying to breed
it outJ

The Billy ~eier oontaots at Reinwel Switzerland,

durring the 1970s, had eluded to the possability
that certain segments of this society, are headed
for future distruotion.

What I suggest is that those in authority and world

power be honest with themselves and take a few options
that might aleiaveate this destruotion, as BartKs
masses of peoples, are a solid state phenomina and
if you do not breakup the solid state affair of things
then, then the oiroutry aots as one.
First things first. The Queen and all roality in
England, only OOIJJ:patent represent a level mark of
quality, that the British oitizen oan match.
The Queen durring the seoond wopld war, was a peo-
ple’s queen, who knew how to tear down an engine and
stood side by side with the people, in their time
of need and unoertanity.
If you oompair Pleiadean sooiety with todays Bri-
tish sooiety, you will their society is based on
loyality to a board member of twelve. They make
the deoisions, but the level of personal quality

The problem I see with the United Sts.tes and Great

The only video Ublication, that I have ever seen

where the British pUblic, could work or enjoy a
job in space, was the UFO series, as distribute
durring the mod 1910s erra. T.V.’/’
Oollectivly then, we could not launch any venture
into space, because of all of the many millions of
dollars that we~e secretly being funneled into the
Vietnam War.

1968 was a key year, if man was going to venture

into space. We have missed this prime window and
to boot, as told in the American based paperback
Hole In Tne Sky, there is strong evidence that
stipulates that gross ammounts of rocket plume
exaust, can affect not only the quality of the
atmosphere, but also adversley effects the weather.
There is also the expence of prepairing vehicles
to take many people aloft," which would be great;
as opposed to the cost of one of the so many sa-

e DISCLAIMER OF WRONG ACTION:

I in no way oompremise the national seourity of

the United States, as the sources that have been
illuminaited within this letter, are already pu-
blic information.
As far as loyality to an idea or concept goes
the oitizens of any oommonwealth, are not blind
atomatons, that should maroh blindly into the
seas, at the oommand of a selfinvolved heirarohy
whioh for busniess reasons, seems to have a dim-
inished feeling of humanity, for the masses that
it is supposed to give direction to.

I ask no brash aotions be taken, beoause of the

disolooure that I have afforded another nation
but a good hard look at true alternatives, which
might head off the series of prediotions, whioh
state in unisen that our oolleotive oivilization
is headed for destruotion.

A BRIEF INSIGHT INTO THE B.U~F.O.S.I. MAGAZINE
We would like to welcome every new reader to this.British UFO magazine
the BRITISH UfO STUDIES CENTRE ulNTELLlGENCEu (BUFOSCI).
Whilt began,as starting a new North West UFQ Studl.es Centre (by
requests from other Ufologlsts) has quite rapidly grown Into the formation
of a National Organls.atlon that will travel to anywhere In the Country In order to
Investigate UFO slghtlngs.
The BRITISH UFO STUDIES CENTRE are somewhat different from other
UFO Organlsations, anyone who Is working actively within British Ufology
or even a complete outsider or novice will be given consideration when offering
papers to this magazlne. We are a democratic bunch of people who are aiming to
" enhance the Identity of Ufology throughout the World.Nothlng will deter us from
this.
Some UFO Organlsatlons rely on Chalrpersons,Vlce Chairpersons and other
Council Members etc,our Organisation Is dissimilar to that.
The only reason why
Erlc’s name appears as Director Is quite slmple, ltls due to the fact he will be
promoting articles In Newspapers,Radlo Interviews and Televlsion,as well as
giving lectures..
If you telephone’the 24hr UFO Hotline and get the recorded message,do"nt

e In this magazine we aim to study the relationships of Official
Departments that are related to Ufology, thls Is -aired publlcalW by Paul
Caruso.
Let"s see what he has to say:-

The Ministry of Defence and UFO"s.

We have already looked at the Involvement or the Armed Services of the
United Kingdom In the UFO phenomenon;for that reason we may "Jump"
Slightly ahead of previous sectlons.Baslcally,lt was only after the first
.
"flying saucer" Groups appeared In the UK (1953/1954) that any sort of
publicity was given to Air Ministry statements on UFO"s.There was
!!2.Justlflable reason for It,butthose Groups seem to Immedlat’ely have
. decided that there was a cover up,that IIthose In authority know more
than th~y let onll.
What we see when surveying the literature from this period Is simply
"copy cat" behaviour.British Groups and Individuals were simply "copying
the AmeriCan way" In dealing with Officialdom. The Air Ministry seemed to
be doing nothing publlcally, therefore, they reasoned there must be
somethlng’golng on "behind closed doors".The fictional accounts ’of RAF
studies and Air Ministry Departments seem to have been naively believed
(If It appeared In a newspaper, surely It was true~..w ll)by theU FO
Groups.People just could not accept that. the Air’Ministry wer,e not
conducting "Blue Book type Investigations" Into UFO"s,and after the
allegation that an RAF study ended with a "T.op Secret" report the
questions and allegations began again.
In April 1955 fo.llowlng the RAF "study" statement, the then Under
Secret of State for Alr,the Hon George Ward (later to become Lord
Ward) was asked by Member of Parliament,Major Patrick Wall, whether
the Air Ministry Inquiry had been completed and If sO,he ask.ed,dld Mr
" Ward prop.ose to have the report publlshed,Mr Ward replled:-
"Reports of Flying saucers,as well as other abnormal objects In the
sky,are Investigated as they come In,but there has been no formal
Inqulry.About 90% of the reports have been found to relate t .

meteors, balloons, flares and many other objects. The fact that the.other

10% areunexplatned need be attributed to nothing more than a sl’nlster
lack of data"
Mr Ward was telling us what It took almost thirty years to prove.that
there was no’Official RAF or Air Ministry Inquiry. The only query wati the
10% flgure, the official one had been 5%..obvlously Mr Ward was the
latest qualified figure (1..3).
In the Septemberl ctober,1966 edition of Flying Saucer Rev,lew (FSR)
appeared an artlcl by a Mr John Pitt, dealing with the Air Ministry and
e
UFO.s.ln this artlcl Mr Pitt stated:-
0.,
(1)The Air Mini ry had been InterestedlnUFO.sslnce 1847.
(2)The Air Mln,l ry had admltte,d that data U FO.,s was exchanged
with the Unit d States Air Force (USAF)Air Technical
,lnteUlge,nce enter (ATIC)
(3)The branch 0 the Air Ministry dealing with UFO Reports Is known
as D.D.I(Tec nlcal),1t was the equivalent ,In the UK as ATIC ..
housed In an attlcl
(4)A 0.0.1. (Tee)source Is said to have told the writer that the
Ministry had 16,000+ UFO reports on file covering
perl d.Henc 10% = 1,600+ cases.
1947-1964-
To follow up these "revelations" Mr Pitt and a colleague Mr David .
Wightman ’visited e Air Ministry In March 1966.Thelr Intention was to
find out Just what as happening to these 1,600 reports. The PRO they
spoke to,denied t ere was any seperate branch In the Ministry dealing
speclncallyiWlth U O.s and nothing else. The two men felt that this was a
contradlctloo, afte all...the Sunday Dispatch had said there was onel
,
Now Mr Pitt claim to have worked In a branch of Intelligence (notthis
mag folks!!) at the War Ofnee, surely then,he should have reallsed that
the DDI (Tech);a p rson,not a Department.Aiso,he should have known
that this person w uld deal with all ,aspects,of Technical Scientific
Intelligence that c e with his sectlonsechelon; d the DDI(Tech)
would hav~ acces to Ministry experts based at various establishments
away fromtheMI stry. There was no contradiction In the PRO.s
statement thata r port they discussed would be sent through to the
necessarydepart ent....you can never Win against this type of
thlnklng.Messrs P t & Wightman would have done better to clarify the
1,600+ reportsng re,whlch they dld.nt.
The Pitt artiCle did little to clarify anything, apart from the fact did not
~
seem to do what t ey Intended. However In 1963 another article appeared
In FSR,thls oneac ually explaining the attitude of Mr Ward and other
Polltlclansregardl g HMG regardlngU FO.s.The writer Desmond
Leslle, had met Mr ard shortly bef,ore he (Ward)had become
Parllamnetary Un er Secretary for Air.However It was not untl11963,after
Mr Ward hadretlr d from Politics that Leslie, revealed the contents of a
letter from"the P,ol Iclan.This letter makes very Interesting readlng,Mr
Ward openlyadml Ing that he was very Interested In the subject of
UFO.s.
Part of atelephon conversation between the two men was also revealed
In the artlcle.Lesll mentioned the West Mailing Affair (See RAF Section)

When asked about the Flight Lieutenant \salandin case Mr Ward stated
that the switchboard at the aerodrome responsible had been blocked

Robert Chapman, the then SclenceCorrespondant with the Sunday

1969,Chapman revealed that a Department designated $4(F)Air was
responsible for dealing with all calls about U FO’s,as well as complaints
about low flying aircraft, aircraft noise and other miscellanies. The person
who takes your call,1f you’re reporting a UFO,has a form headed
Re ort of an Unidentified FIYln~ ObJ!S. which seems very similar to
standard R1’s used by Ufologlsts.Once you have answered all the
questions the checks begin.

,It Is surprising then, that for such a popular book,lt’s contents do not

Ignored dellberately? When Police on the Isle of Wight said that they
would be using special forms Issued by a centre In London to record
recent slghtlngs over the area, there was more speculatlon. What
forms? What centre? askedFSR and one reader wrote In to say that
around October 1976 BBC Radio 1 news had reported that a special
ce.ntre for UFO reports had been set up In Whltehall. The Department Is
called S4(F)...the writer suggested.that the forms might come from this
department.Whlch we knew ten years.or so before. ;

It Is interesting that whenever a new wave of Press interest In UFO’s

appears newspapers report that a new special department has been set
up recently.....wewo~nt make any comments. But why was FSR mystified
as to this MOD (Air)Section and the forms?FSR helped publlclse
Chapmans book, andhe used.a great deal of FSR materlal, and he even
writes,..."thanks to my friends Charles Bowen and Gordon Creighton for
helping me prepare material for this book".Mr Bowen edited FSR for
many years,a Job now taken over by Mr Crelghton...dld they read the

There are n merous Press and UFO magazine articles that one can tear to

In our setion on the RAf,the Author quoted part of a letter from Air Marshall Sir
Victor Goddard, the first Deputy Director of Air Intelllgence, d who later served
on the Air Council.A great deal of fiction has been written about the part he
played In the equally t1ctlonal19~O-19~5 RAF UFO Study, and the Author will
now present a fuller quotation from two of the letters regarding Omclal UFO
Investlgatlonuor rather lack of them.
Firstly, from a letter to the Author dated 13th October 1983
""e only reason why I should have contact with the RAF Intelligence side of "
the old Air Ministry about UFO’s was my keeness to prevent FSR from
I’

what they have done, that Is going off the deep end about Government doing cover-up
"
In ’this Country about U FO’s.
That Is the total extent of my unofficial contact with the RAF about U F()’s.
What has been the main cause of the alleged cover-upis the fact that no
Government Department and none of the fighting Services.have been made
responsible for reports on UFO’s.The reason for that Is that by no stretch of
Imagination Is action by the U FO’s been against the Country or It’s Interests.the
In pursuance of my aim from preventing FSR overstating their case I have
corresponded with ex-RAF Directors,of IntelUgence to ark them what their
views were about U FO’s and what,lf any,Government Dep;u’tment was
responslble. The various ex-heads of Intelligence that I wrote to on this sUbject
had all been men who had been under me when I was In the RAF.Thelast
man
to whom I wrote sald,as others had said,Government cover-up \!Vas
nonsense;he agreed that I had got hold of the right view of UFO’s which he
believed In as I do.
This was clarified by Sir Victor Goddard In another letter dated 21st October
1983.
"You may say that no branch of the fighting Services Including their Head
Offices or the Ministry of Detence has ever been responsible for holding
of the reports of UFO’s In the British Isles or elsewhere in the World many
for the
simple reason that the Armed Forces are Intended to protect the
Commonwealth and the British Empire and It’s Interests against the Forces of
other Countrles.Nothlng that has been attributed to UFO’s has ever been
shown to be a threat to this Country as described. reliably
All of which confirms the MOD (Air)statements that they have neither the
resources nor man power for full UFO Investlgatlon/Research.lt also explains
why pre-1962 reports were destroyed as "ofno Interes......no
ol1e .was omclally
responsible for them.Though stili restricted,at least the Ministry of Detence

..
Like th Ufologlst, the Ministry has no "concrete"evidence that U FO.s are
terrestr spacecraft, though they do not rule out the posslbllity. The private
extr’
beliefs fthose handling UFO.reports has no real bearing on Official
guldlln s:no "positive proof" stili means no change In attitude
official .Hopefully, though, thls section has given a true account of the Ministry
otDef ce and U FO.s.

This sighting as reported to the Ministry of Defence and also to the Pollee in
Chester.lnter tingly BUFOSC can confirm this sighting was logged with the ..
Ministry of De ce at 9:40pm,some ten minutes after the sighting.
Because ofth height of these IIghts, there was no sound heard and they were
observed for a proximately three minutes.
It would, app slghtlngs being seen In the Chester areas are being directly

they sometlm s stated nothing was reported to them,we can confirm through

During this sl htlng there was a slight Westerly wind and there were aircraft
approaching anchest8r (Rlngway)Alrport,so It Is possible these lights were
the mls-ldentlcation of aircraft arriving at Manchester Airport, however the
erratic behavl ur would bring this theory Into questlon. The angle of descent
would be con Istent with aircraft landing at Manchester Airport and !;he time, the
lights were s could be conslstent, taklng Into consideration the turning
angles of alrc approaching the AirporlBU FOSC have made studies of aircraft
to and from M chester from the Chester areas.
...~
The final evaluati n from BUFOSC is that this WAS probably an aircraft sighting, ilthough one
ponders the offi ialdom from the Ministry of Defence .Whywere these sightings reported to
them if they wer only mundane scheduled aircraft flights??
.,~
"..

Perhaps we can hrCWoJ some fight on this, sometimes when TRUE UFO’s are being observed in
areas, the Minist of Defence appear to ’ake interest’ in sightings reported to them which
ARE aircraft, thi might be to thrCWoJ off media interest in the truly Unidentified sightings being
reported in an a ea.Perhaps this was the case over Chester in July 1994.
BUFOSCwiU ke p you informed of further progress into this plethora of sightings around the
