Title of Article: Self-Rejection: The symbolic Language of Soma and Psyche

Journal Name: Pacifica Graduate Institute
Author: Katy A. ODonnell
Year: 2017

Self-rejection as it is typically talked about refers to one personally rejecting

themselves either mentally or physically. However, from a medical standpoint self-
rejection refers to ones body rejecting to defend itself against harmful virus,
bacteria, parasites, and so much more. When a body is prone to self-rejection, it is
often because of autoimmune disease. Research in both forms of self-rejection
shows the two are interconnected mainly due to the negative environment.
However, when the soma (body) and psyche (mind) loose their boundaries, it
results in internalized aggression, which only works to cause greater self-rejection.

Name of Article: The Influence of the French Flute School on Brazilian Flute
pedagogy
Author: Fabiana Magrinelli Rocha Dahmer
Journal: The University of Southern Mississippi
Year: 2017

With the immigration of French flutist to Brazil, the technique and teaching of the
flute in Brazil have improved considerably. Originally, the French brought the silver
Boehm flute to Brazil, which in turn sparked a new generation of flutist through the
country. Additionally, the influence of the French Flue School in Brazil is present
with four influential professional flutists living in Brazil today, all of whom studied
at the French Flute School. All four professionals originate from Brazil and with the
added knowledge they gained in France, they are teaching both typical South
American and European flute music. Because of the extensive information brought
by the French and then again by Brazilians who traveled to France, the four
professionally were able to open a school for the flute where they continue to share
what was impressed upon them by the French.
