COURSE DESCRIPTION
Drawing /Painting is an exciting one year course designed to develop basic art skills. A variety of drawings will
be completed using the different media such as graphite, charcoal, pastel, ink, and mixed media. The basic
elements of art, design, and color theory will be emphasized and will lead into painting. Paintings will be
completed in watercolor and acrylic. In addition to the weekly assignments and projects you will also keep an
art journal. This course is a foundation course that will prepare you for other art courses such as Intermediate
Art, Graphic Design, Ceramics, and Advanced Art.

SUPPLIES GRADING
In addition to assignments, projects, and art journaling you will be given quizzes and

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
Students will be expected to follow the school rules as stated in the student handbook, including dress code policies.

ART ROOM RULES


1. No food, drink, or candy.
2. No phones! You can use an iPad to look up photos for drawing reference.
3. No talking during studio time.
No inappropriate conversations. Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your
mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift. Ephesians 4:29
4. Stay in your assigned seat.
5. Be respectful to others.
6. Come to class prepared. Turn assignments on on time. (see above)
7. Be respectful with art supplies.
