Google has announced new technological strides: they have been able to sort 1
terabyte of data across one-thousand computers in a mere 68 seconds.
(Previously, the same record of 1TB was across 910 computers and took 209
seconds.)
That would be Google, the internet search engine company.

ArcExplorer is a free lightweight GIS data viewer developed by ESRI. ArcExplorer offers
an easy way to perform a variety of basic GIS functions, including display, query, and
data retrieval applications. ArcExplorer can be used on its own with local data sets or as
a client to Internet data and map servers
Transaction must be Atomic (it is one unit of work and does not dependent on
previous and following transactions)
Consistent (data is either committed or roll back, no "in-between" case
where something has been updated and something hasn't)
Isolated (no transaction sees the intermediate results of the current
transaction)
Durable (the values persist if the data had been committed even if the
system crashes right after).

 Google is a big supporter of renewable energy and invests in renewable energy
companies and research projects, including geothermal power. It has invested more
than $10 million on Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). Googles investments with
EGS partners thus far include: AltaRock Energy will get $6.25 million investment to
develop innovative technologies to achieve significant cost reductions and improved
performance in EGS projects.Potter Drilling will receive $4 million investment in two
tranches, to develop new approaches to lower the cost and expand the range of deep
hard rock drilling, a critical element large-scale deployment of EGS.Southern Methodist
Universitys Geothermal Laboratory will get a $ understanding of the size and
distribution of geothermal energy resources and to update geothermal mapping of

data centers to take advantage of favorable geographical and environmental factor is
Hamina, Finland, over the weekend is boosting Scandinavian hopes that other big
Internet companies will choose to build data centers in the region, attracted by its cold
climate and low electricity prices. In a startling new take on data center engineering,
Google has filed a patent for a water-based data center that uses the ocean to provide
power and cooling. Grainger Lake Forest Data Center earned gold cerification to USGBC.
