March 2015-Present EduStaff Substitute Teacher
Worked for Holt Public Schools as a sub for Michelle Fulton, Christine Fisher, Bobby Mann, and other members of the
English Department. Also subbed in the Lansing Public School District at Gardner Academy, Eastern High School, and
Mt. Hope STEAM Elementary. Responsibilities included executing and adapting lesson plans as prescribed by the
classroom teacher, taking detailed notes on classroom interactions for administration, as well as leaving a detailed report
for the classroom teacher with regard to student concerns and questions, and my own concerns and questions.

2016-2017 Long-Term Substitute Teacher, Holt High School, Holt MI


Responsibilities included creating and executing lesson plans for Christine Fisher's 10th and 11th grade Language Arts.
These classes involved a survey of English literature, a survey of American Literature, an Argumentative writing unit,
creative writing unit, and an SAT preparation course. Also, participated in Holt's professional development training in
the Marzano Method of Teacher Evaluation, and joined the literacy professional learning community of Holt High School.

2015- 2016 Internship, Holt High School, Holt MI


Taught 11th Grade American Literature and English Acquisitions (ESL) with the guidance of Michelle Fulton and Carol
Prais. Proctored the WIDA exam, planned World Language Week activities, participated in English department PD,
attended staff meetings, and participated in Holt's Literacy PLC.

Spring 2015 Pre-College Writing Program, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI
Assistant taught with a Literacy professor twice a week as part of the TESOL Certification Program. Focused on planning
effective lessons, assignments, grading, and learning pedagogical practices that benefitted students learning academic
English writing skills.

Fall 2014 8th Grade, Chippewa Middle School, Okemos, MI


Placement included four hours of observation a week in Kelly Cesar's 8th Grade classroom. Actively participated in the
classroom by planning, teaching, and working with students . Focused on applying research-based practices advocated
by Burke and Smagorinsky, such as project-based learning, dialogic formative assessments, and student reflections.

Spring 2014 6th Grade, Gardner Middle School, Lansing, MI


Focused on improving classroom management skills in Patte Carter-Hevia's 6th Grade classroom for 2 hours a week
through observation, tutoring, and executing lesson plans. Practiced data-collection methods advocated by Zweirs &
Crawford, Burke, and Smagorinsky for the purpose of formative assessment.

and provides the opportunity for students to engage their language skills in ways that supports their interests as well as prepares them for life after
high school.
