Your Motivation
Please write about what motivated and inspired you to study abroad
My motivation for my study abroad in Hong Kong was mainly to explore another country, to experience
another way of learning and to meet new people.
Please describe the study abroad application process and the level of service from the DTU International Affairs
The process was easy and straightforward with good guidance from DTU international Affairs.
Preparation Phase
Please describe the preparation phase (Was it easy or difficult, and what would you recommend future DTU students to
do?)
How would you describe the application process and the service provided by the International Office at your host
university?
The application process was easy to follow. The international office provided the necessary information to
complete the application process.
Description of University
How would you describe your host university (campus life, academic level, course offer, staff, facilities, etc.)?
The Chinese university of Hong Kong has a very big campus area. Free shuttle bus is arranged by the
university. The academic level on the course I took was very easy. A lot of courses was available for the
summer school session, however only 1 engineering course was offered.
Course offer
Please add any comments about the course offer in general (academic level, course selection process, relevance, etc.)?
There were not many options regarding courses. Within the field of engineering, only 1 course was offered.
Accommodation
Where did you live and how did you find it? (Dorm room or apartment, on or off-campus, price, location, facilities, etc.)?
I lived on Lee Woo Sing college, which is an on-campus dorm, together with almost all other international
students who came for the international summer school programme. This meant that I had the opportunity to
network with all other students. The social life at the college was a great experience as well.
Social Life/University Sports
How would you describe your social life? (Did you hang out with local or international students, did you go travelling,
were you a member of any clubs or sport teams, etc.)
The social life during my stay in Hong Kong was great. I learned many people from around the world. There
were also many events for the students. For instance, there were movie nights. I did also play football with
other students and I did also travel to Macau and Vietnam with international students.
Funding
How did you fund your study abroad? (Any good scholarships or private funds that future DTU students should be aware
of?)
Budget
DKK Expenses (DKK) Income (DKK)
SU (Governmental Grant) 5195
SU Loan
DTU Scholarship 3000
Erasmus Scholarship
Private Scholarships
Private funds
Learning Outcome
What do you take with you from your study abroad experience? (New academic insight, improved language skills,
cultural insight, international network, personal development and growth, etc.)
During my stay I achieved great learning outcomes both in terms of academic insight, cultural insight and
international network. E.g. I gained a great insight into the Chinese culture during the different field trips
hosted by CUHK. Moreover I expanded my network as I learned many people from all over the world.
