Assignment 2 Part 2

1. Would Agamemnon have been sorry about the way he treated Achilles if the Greeks were
winning the war, is he really sorry about his actions?

Agamemnon would not feel sorry had the Greeks were winning the war because he has himself
convinced that as king, what he did to Achilles is not wrong; his pride wont let him feel sorry
had the Greeks were winning and they didnt need Achilles help. He only considered to feel
sorry when Nestor a wise man, proposed to seek help from Achilles because they are losing the
war. Agamemnon really feels sorry for his actions for he went to extreme lengths to make
Achilles forgive him and join the war, this was seen on when he offers Achilles that he will treat
him as if he was his son and he would give her daughter to marry.

2. If Agamemnon had gone to Achilles in person instead of sending messengers would that have
mattered to Achilles, why?

Even if Agamemnon would come to Achilles personally it wouldnt have mattered to Achilles
because of two reasons, one is that Achilles prefer to have a long life rather than having glory
and leading a short life, second is that Achilles is still hurt and decided that Agamemnon hurting
his pride would be the last time he has hurted him, it is seen in his quote He cheated me and he
did me hurt. Let him not beguile me with words again. This is enough for him. Let him of his
own will be damned, since Zeus of the counsels has taken his wits away from him
