Dear Roger,

Herewith my list of proposed compositions to occupy a concert at the Tenth Sydney

Spring. (On reflection, it seems to me preferable for them not to all be in the same concert, but to
be spread throughout the Festival, perhaps, just as one would not enjoy a meal consisting of
several varieties of cheesecake, however exquisite: each course would begin to cancel the others
out! ... but youre the boss, Roger.) The following list is, naturally, not ordered:

1. Dimensiones Paradisi (1991/1998) c.10

for solo alto flute.
Kathleen Gallagher* alto flute.
(Id like to hear Kathleen do this again, after its had a year to sink in: its very complex!)

2. 153 Infinities (1996) c.11

for solo piano.
Roger Woodward piano. (Id love for you to play this, Roger.)

3. Lines of Light (1993) c.10

for recorder player, 2 Yamaha DX7 synths. [1 or 2 players] and percussion [1 or 2 players].
IS* recorders; Roger Dean (+ another?) synths.; Daryl Pratt (+ another?) percussion.

4. Lingua Silens Florum (1991) c.1

for (amplified) prepared alto recorder.
IS* prepared alto recorder.
(A gentle filler or encore piece!)

5. Cycles of Vega (1990) c.12

for Ee clarinet and two percussion.
Peter Jenkin Ee clarinet; Daryl Pratt + another percussion.
Ideally (for artistic and logistical reasons), Lines of Light and Cycles of Vega could begin and
end the same concert.

6. Solar Dust: Orbits and Spirals (1988) c.10

for solo mandolin.
Paul Hooper* mandolin.

7. Ritual Canons (In Memoriam Olivier Messiaen) (1993) c.4

for four trombones. WORLD PREMIERE!
Greg van der Struik* + 3 colleagues trombones.

8. Zodiac: Crystal Orbit Improvisations (1996) Variable duration: > 5

for soprano recorder, MIDI wind instrument and keyboard synthesizer.
IS* soprano recorder; Sandy Evans MIDI wind inst.; Roger Dean keyboard synth.

Total duration: c.70

* = Ive already spoken to these players, and theyre keen to participate.
