CHAPTER 5. DISCUSSION

In this chapter, researchers will compare the results with the literature
review research that has been described in previous chapters. This discussion will
be structured according to the researchers described the purpose of study entry
with an explanation of the themes that are found.

5.1 Interpretation of the results of research and analysis

The breadth of the scope of the current health sector provides a very broad
range of activities that could potentially become an independent nursing is a
skilled businessman and profesioal. Basically, nursepreneur may include nursing
services, health care products and equipment, related legal services, consulting,
and publications related to health care policy (ICN, 2004). This study focuses on
the phenomenon of Nursing Entreprenuership image in Jember, where the
respondent is the source of information in this study has distinctive characteristics
which are expected to describe the title of the research and can answer the
ultimate goal of the study.
Respondents are nurses who act as independent business owners and
managers of the health sector. Profile independent business owned by the
respondent also has distinctive characteristics which are owned businesses in the
form of clinical nursing care in collaboration with other professions as employees
in the field of business involved.

Nursing Entrepreneurship in the implementation of Jember, it still focuses


on the health sector. As for education, research, administration, and consultation
seems to have developed, for example in education, nurse managers not only act
as a business owner. Flowers nurses to choose the type of service bidung
kesehutan as an independent business against the background of the view that this
field has the opportunities and prospects are more promising. Furthermore, how
the actors interpret Jember nursing their entrepreneurial efforts have started so far.
The researchers wanted to find a comprehensive overview of nursing
entrepreneurship based on direct experience of the actors. From the research
results obtained, the researchers have succeeded in identifying the findings
summarized in the theme. Furthermore, researchers will discuss in detail each
theme.
a. Identify the definition of Nursing Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneur is a word derived from "entrependre" which means the


beginning of the French language, take the initiative and similar measures. The
word entrepreneur was finally adopted by the official English language around the
year 1875-1880, and the term is paired with the term entrepreneur in the
Indonesian language (Widodo, 2005).

Based on research results, obtained four themes related to the definition of


nursing development of entrepreneurship. The first theme described the
perpetrators of nursing entrepreneurship which is divided into three categories,
including nurses, health practitioners and the profession of any kind. This theme
has a correlation with the theory presented by John G. Burch (in Panji, 2006)
which describes Nursepreneur is a series of two words namely "nurse" and
"business". Nurse means a nurse, while employers have the nature of
entrepreneurship itself. Based on the theory tersabut very clearly illustrated that
nursepreneur perpetrator was a nurse. Another theory, which has obtained the
correlation in this discussion is the theory of Joseph and Mardhiyah (2008) which
outlines that any person whose profession, origin capable menarapkan eight
aspects of the nature of entrepreneurs in their daily lives, it can be categorized as
an entrepreneur, including nurses.
Meanwhile, the second theme describes the scope of nursing practice of
entrepreneurship which is divided into two categories. The first category focuses
on the fields of nursing, it is supported by the theory according to the book review
guidelines for nurse entrepreneurs / intrapreneurs issued by the ICN (2004) that
basically nursepreneur focuses on providing excellent care, including nursing
services, health care products and equipment, associated with aspects of legal
services, consulting, and publications related to health policy.

The second category describes the scope of nursing practice include the
areas of entrepreneurship in public health. Based on the interviews, respondents
considered that the scope of nursing practice of entrepreneurship is not just
limited to the field of nursing, but also includes the areas of global health. It is
based on the explanation that the nurses are part and prefesi health, as stated in the
AD / ART PPNI / INNA Munas VH Manado National Conference, 2006 stating
that nursing is a form of professional services that are an integral part of health
care based on nursing knowledge and tips.

The next theme illustrates how that is done in the practice of nursing
entrepreneurship. The researchers found four categories within this theme

independence, self-optimization of potential, and collaborate with other
professions.
This theme is also in line with and in accordance with the explanations in
the manual for nurse entrepreneurs / intrapreneurs, published by the ICN in 2004,
which explained that the nurse entrepreneurs are business owners that offers direct
nursing care services, education, research, administrative or consultative. Self-

entrepreneurial nursing practice can not be separated from the collaborative
aspect. Nurses establish cooperation with other parties or other health professional

scope and prospects are more promising compared to just utilizing the nursing
field alone. This is a collaborative nursing implications and functions according to
Kozier (in Kusnanto, 2004) in which nursing activities performed on the basis of
cooperation with other parties or other health care team.
Is a true collaborative partnership, where there are common strengths and
values of both sides, with the recognition and acceptance together separate and
combined from the scope of activities and accountability, each protecting the
interests of every part and together achieve the goal agreed by each section. To
implement effective collaborative nursing practice, nurses must have the clinical
skills, knowledge and adequate skills and a high sense of responsibility in every
action (Kozicr, in Kusnanto 2004).

The last theme provides a definition describing the output


Entrepreneurship Nursing. Output is divided into three categories including
independent health care facilities, medical equipment business, health and
education facilities. This theme has supported the theory contained in the guide
book for nurse entrepreneurs / intrapreneurs, published by the ICN (2004) as well
as the theory according to Taylor, Lilis, and LcMone (in Joseph and Mardhiyah,
2008) which discusses the expanded career roles and functions of nurses,
including nurse clinical specialists, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, nurse
midwives, nurse educators, nurse administrators, nurse researchers, nurse
entrepreneurs. The nurse is a nurse entrepreneur, usually with a degree advanve,
WHO can manage a clinic or helath-related business, conduct research, provide
education or serving as an advisor or consultant institution, agency or political
business.
b. Identify the Characteristics of Nursing Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurial personality studied to determine the individual
characteristics that distinguishes an entrepreneur and not a businessman. Quite a
lot of the experts who put forward the theory of entrepreneurial characteristics
with different concepts. Based on research results obtained, the researchers
identified five aspects that make up the characteristics of a nursepreneur.

entrepreneurs are people who believe in the existence of new ways of creative
with better characteristics:
1) never satisfied with the ways that is done today, though this is quite good;
2) always pour the imagination in his work
3) always wanted to be different or take advantage of the difference.
True nature is not only trailing the others, but have alone opinion, there is
an original idea, there is the ability to implement something. According to Alma
(2009) The original meaning is not new at all, but the products reflect the results
of a new combination or reintegration of existing components, so that something
new. Weight of the original product creativity as far as what it will look different
from what already exists.

The value of innovative, creative, and dynamic is one element of


originality. Innovative entrepreneurs are creative and confident with new ways
better (Wirasasmita in Alma, 2009). Harvards Theodore Levitt (in Alma, 2009)
suggests the definition of innovation and creativity are more focused on the
concept of new thinking and acting. Creativity is the ability to create new ideas,
whereas innovation is doing something new. Therefore, according to Levitt,
entrepreneurship is to think and act in something new or something old thinking
in new ways. This is in line with the opinions Soeparman Soemanamidjaja (at
Alma, 2009) that entrepreneurship is the ability to create something new and
different.
The second category, respondents considered that the willingness and
ability to take risks, and courage in this conjecture is also one of the circles in
entrepreneurship. This value is very supportive element of originality where risk
takers prefer the challenges and opportunities, therefore, this trait is found in
people who are innovative and creative.

According to Angelita S. Bajam (at Alma, 2009), a businessman who


dared to risk are those who always wanted to be Pamenang and won in a good
way. Courage to bear the risk that the value of entrepreneurial risk taking,
calculating and realistic. The ability to take risk is determined by the belief in
yourself, the willingness to use skills in seeking opportunities and possibilities for
profit, and the ability to realistically assess the risk situation. This value is very
supportive element of originality where risk takers prefer the challenges and
opportunities, therefore, this trait is found in people who are innovative and
creative, which is the most important and entrepreneurial behavior.

The third category, it is known that a nursepreneur have the commitment

of entrepreneurship.

encouragement, energetic, and initiatives. The initiative means always want to
find and start something. To start the necessary existence of intentions and a
strong determination and great initiative. In entretrepreneur, chances are only
obtained when the initiative. The behavior of this initiative is usually acquired
through training and experience over the years, and development was obtained by
self-discipline, critical thinking, responsive and spirit of achievement.

The fourth category, the researchers also found a motive for achievement
in the characteristics of a nursepreneur. These motifs were identified from the

Achievement motive is reflected in the persistence to learn and broaden their
horizons of knowledge and skills.

The fifth category, Based on excerpts from the interviews and respondents
noted that organizing skills are important elements forming nursepreneur
characteristics. Ability to organize skills divided into two managerial skills and
leadership abilities. Managerial skills include the ability of a nursepreneur and
soul in building a network marketing business management. While the policy
covers leadership skills in attitude, maturity in job performance, and display
characteristics of a professional in the business.

Skills in organizing that has the skills to manage resources to create added
value. Organizing skills is one of the characteristics of entrepreneurship according
to Scarborough and Zimmerer (in Suryana, 2006). Managerial skills needed by an
entrepreneur to help manage the business well. Managerial skills a person can be
seen from the three capabilities including technical ability, personal skills, and
emotional abilities (Suryana, 2006).
Moreover, in view of the combined theory Timmons, McClelland, clan
Zimmerer (in Suryana, 2006) also mentioned the ability of leadership that a
successful entrepreneur who has the ability to exert influence without authority
and must have a mediator and negotiator tactics. According Suryana (2006), a
successful businessman always has the qualities of leadership, pioneering and
exemplary. He always wanted to look different, being the first and more
prominent. He always took advantage of the difference as a value-added, because
it is different for an entrepreneur is a source of renewal to create value. He always
wanted to hang out to look for opportunities and be open to criticism and
suggestions which are then used as an opportunity.

According to Kelly & Joel (in Kusnanto, 2004) Professional is a person


who has competence in a particular job. While professionalism is defined as
character, spirit, or methods that also includes the professional and educational
activities in various working groups whose members are eager to become a
professional. Professionalization is a dynamic process to meet or change the
direction of the characteristics of a profession. In this study, nursepreneur must
have a professional appearance, in which the offender must understand the
meaning of his profession, ready to be responsible and accountable to what is
being implemented, and has a maturity dalain performance.

According to Kelly & Joel (in Kusnanto, 2004) Professional is a person


who has competence in a particular job. While professionalism is defined as

direction of the characteristics of a profession. In this study, nursepreneur must
have a professional appearance, in which the offender must understand the
meaning of his profession, ready to be responsible and accountable to what is
being implemented, and has a maturity in his performance.
c. Know the description of the conduct of district Nursing Entrepreneurship
in muddy

The productivity of the work depends on the willingness of workers to be more


enterprising. In order for workers more eager to work, it must be motivated in
different ways. In general, conscious human behavior, which is always motivated
by a desire to achieve certain goals. This is where the role and motivations.
Motivation is the willingness to do something, while the motive is the need,
desire, drive, or impulse. Person's motivation depends on the strength of his
motives. Motifs with very large is the force that will determine a person's behavior
(Alina, 2009).

Implementation of the nursing practice of entrepreneurship in the first


place against the background of the environmental conditions surrounding the
availability of a number of health personnel as well as the existence of empty
unused buildings. Respondents rated these conditions is an opportunity to be
exploited. This strongly supports the application of theory to explain the meaning
of entrepreneur according to Jean Baptiste Say (in Widodo, 2005) in which the
entrepreneur is the person who removed all the economic resources of the area of
low productivity to high productivity areas with greater results, or more profitable.
In addition, these conditions also supports the application of the theory according
to Portable MBA entrepreneurship that defines an entrepreneur as someone who
saw an opportunity and then create an organization to take advantage of this
opportunity (Alma, 2008).
In the process conditions led to self-fulfillment motive for respondents to
become more productive by using the skills and creativity that is owned. This
motif which further encourages nursepreneur to establish an independent business
of health. Motif supports the theoretical statement in the handbook quoted by
Yuyun Wirasasmita Entrepreneur (in Suryana, 2006) that one reason why some
people become entrepreneurs is self-fulfillment motive to achieve something
desired, to be independent, to avoid dependence on others, become more
productive by using a personal capacity.

Departing from the existing motives, respondents see the opportunities that
can be taken if they do nursepreneur practices include :

a. opportunity to obtain control over the ability of self;


b. opportunities utilizing the full potential of;
c. opportunities to benefit financially
d. opportunity to contribute to the community and appreciate one's efforts.

Achievement of entrepreneurial nursing practice requires laws that govern


the rights and obligations associated with professional actors. Legislation intended
to provide legal protection for people and nursepreneur actor.
Stages nursepreneur offender legislation begins with learning the rules,
laws, and requirements for business establishment that has been determined by
relevant health authorities and then try to meet some requirements following the
establishment and administration of several stages, including the submission of a

business management to strengthen and develop the entrepreneurial management
of nursing practice that respondents who walk. Management efforts made by the
respondents is in line with the theory according to Smart & Maull (2008) on
business process management, which explains that the process of business
management is a management approach that focuses on all aspects of business
organization that includes the client wants and needs. Management is a holistic
management approach that emphasizes effectiveness and efficiency by trying to
achieve innovation, flexibility, and integration using next generation technology,
the relationship between management and entrepreneurship can be described as
follows:

Aspects of management undertaken by the respondents include the


principles of management, management functions, and facilities management. In
accordance with information from respondents, it is known that in the
implementation of nursing entrepreneurship, there are some activities that reflect
the principles of management. Management principles are fundamental statements
that serve as guidelines for thinking or acting. Management principles identified
include the division of labor (division of labor), the authority and responsibility
(authority and responsibility), discipline (discipline), sequence (order), employee
payroll, the initiative or the initiative and spirit of unity.
This is consistent with theories that explain the general principles of
management by Fayol (Robbins and Coulter in, 2007), this theory also explains
that the principles of flexible management in the sense that it needs to be
considered in accordance with specific conditions and circumstances have
changed .
In business management, the respondents also implement the management
functions that include planning (planning), organizing (organizing), actuating
(mobilization), and control (supervision). Management functions are the basic
elements that will always exist, and inherent in the process to be used as a
reference by the manager in carrying out activities to achieve goals (Fayol,
Robbins and Coulter in 2007). Respondents performed management functions
include various types of management tasks or activities that have specific roles
and support each other to achieve the goals set earlier.
Activity planning function is to formulate a plan. Developing a plan means
thinking about what to do with available resources. Respondents planning
functions performed include analysis of the situation, making futures work
program, target setting, and determination of indicators of success. Planning is
done regularly and logically based resources.
According to Fayol (Robbins and Coulter in, 2007), Planning (planning) is
to figure out what to do with the resources they have. Planning underway to
determine the overall business objectives and how best to meet that goal.
Managers plan to evaluate the various alternatives before taking action and then
choose a plan that involves whether suitable and can be used to meet business
objectives. Planning is the most important of all because without a plan of
management functions, other functions can not be executed.
Then perform the function of organizing in which the respondent seeks to
create a structure with parts that are integrated in such a way that the relationship
between the parts to one another are influenced by their relationship with the
overall structure of rersebut. Organizing the functions of the division of tasks
performed. According to Fayol (Robbins and Coulter in, 2007), organization
(organization) was conducted with the aim of dividing an activity into smaller
activities. Facilitate organize and supervise managers in determining the person
required to carry out the tasks that had divided them.
Actuating serves to drive people to want to work with full awareness of
their own or together to achieve desired goals effectively. Actuating functions
performed by the respondent in the form of utilization of existing potentials by
utilizing the characteristics of leadership (leadership) in the implementation.
This is consistent with the theory according to Fayol (Robbins and Coulter
in, 2007) which explains that mobilization (mobilization) is the act to ensure that
all members of the group trying to reach the target in accordance with managerial
planning and effort has been made previously.
As for the control function or control function is an activity to assess and
control the course of an activity that leads to achieving set goals. This process is
carried out to measure and compare plans that have been made with

complaints.

goals. Without human beings there is no process work, because humans are
basically working tone. Therefore, management arises because the people who
work together to achieve goals.
Moreover, in the management of the business, certainly not independent of
the financial aspect. Based on interviews, found that respondents use private
capital in a business establishment, the income earned from clients, while
expenditures are used for staff salaries, operating costs and expenses for business
development. Robbins and Coulter (2007) which states that Money or Money is
one element that can not be ignored. Money is a medium of exchange and means
of measuring value. Large size of the activity can be measured and the amount of
money circulating within the company. Therefore, money is a tool (tools) that are
important for achieving the purpose for all things must be taken into account in a
rational way. This will relate to how much money should be provided to finance
the salary of labor, tools required and must be purchased and how many bacilli
can be achieved from an organization.

Based on the interviews can be concluded that the respondents use customer
orientation as a marketing concept, where the main target of their efforts is to
customer satisfaction. Respondents rely on promotion from one patient to another.
According to Alina, 2009 in nursepreneur practice, respondents not only offer
services, or the source of the launch promotion. However, players focus on
consumer tastes, so that respondents are not only consumers kebutuban
concerned, but also pay attention to what consumers want.
Consumers do not just get this service, but expect something from the
service, this is called desire, that there is something else to expect after buying the
service. If this can be met, then the marketing activities will achieve success. The
main target is the marketing concept of consumer satisfaction.

d. Know the description of the situation analysis in district Nursing


Entrepreneurship Jember

One of the principle of success is to act on the goal. This principle also
applies in an organization or business. To build a business organization or run it
by making the program, each organization must determine the identity and
concentration maps in a single organization or several specific areas. This will
facilitate the organization to see what he wants, how to achieve and evaluate the
extent to which it is implemented.

Process management is a holistic process, involving many facets that will


interact with one another. As a first step and this process is the technical steps that
can be learned is how we were able to map a problem with the method of analysis
known as a SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis is a form of analysis of situations
and conditions that are descriptive (giving) to put the situation and conditions as
input factors, which are then grouped according to their respective contributions
(Daft, 2006).
The analysis is divided into four basic components that are characteristic
of the internal forces that can be used positive efforts to achieve strategic
performance goals, weaknessess are internal characteristics that can slow or
impede the performance of business organization, chances are the characteristics
of the external environment has the potential to assist the organization in achieve
or exceed its strategic goals, while treaths are the characteristics and the external
environment that could hinder business in achieving strategic goals (Daft, 2006).
Further discussion of the SWOT analysis related to the practice of nursing at
Jember entrepreneurship will be outlined as follows.

There is support and positive response from the community and the
positive contribution of entrepreneurship to the perpetrators of nursing practice
