Learning objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
a. listen to animal or vehicle sounds and circle the correct pictures.
DAY b. listen to environmental sounds, instrumental sounds, body percussion and voice
sounds and tick the correct pictures.
c. listen and name the 26 letters in the alphabet.
Teaching Aids : picture cards, textbook, activity book.
DATE CCE/EE: Multiple Intelligences, Collaborative Learning
Activities :
a. Introduction:
1. Teacher gets the pupils to talk about sounds that they can hear around the school.
2. Examples: bell ringing, pupils talking etc
Subject a. Pre listening:
English 1. Pupils look at the pictures. (TB page 1 & 2)
2. Guide pupils to talk about the environmental, instrumental, body percussion, and
voice sounds shown in the pictures.
3. Teacher shows picture cards. Teacher make the sounds of environmental,
instrumental, body percussion, and voice sounds.
Class 4. Pupils listen carefully and repeat.
Year 1 5. Guide the pupils to make different voice and instrumental sounds.
6. Ask pupils these questions:
How does an angry cat sound like?
Why do you need to shout for help loudly?
TIME b. While listening:
1. Activity a:
Get the pupils to turn to AB page 5.
(60 minutes) Teacher makes the sound of an animal or a vehicle in each set and get the
pupils to repeat.
Pupils then circle the correct pictures.
2. Activity b:
Get the pupils to turn to AB page 6.
Teacher make a sound in each set.
Attendance: Guide the pupils to tick the correct picture.
Focus on the instrumental, body percussion, and voice sounds.

c. Post listening:
Absent: 1. Name the 26 letters in the alphabet chart and get the pupils to repeat.
d. Closure:
1. Divide the pupils into groups.
2. Teacher shows picture cards.
3. Pupils make the sound of the picture shown in groups.
