Coding for the Everyday needs

Day 1:
Ask the question What do you do everyday? put on the board and link to
coding/programming (126.15.c.4.A)

Day2:
Hour of Code video
Cup Coding Activity. (126.15.c.1.C)

Day 3:
Students play games at http://learn.code.org (126.15.c.2.C.)

Day4:
Students create interactive story at https://writer.inklestudios.com/ (126.15.c.6.M)

Day5:
Students will complete interactive stories. (126.15.c.6.M)

Day 6:
Introduce the driving question: How could coding make your life better?
Students will do a quick write to answer the above question. (126.15.c.4.A)
(daily grade for submitting)
Students will choose one of their answers above as their guiding purpose.

Day 7:
Students play at http://light-bot.com (126.15.c.2.C.)

Day 8:
Students/groups will begin their project action plan and timeline. (126.15.c.4.B.)

Day 9: Students will research their app/game idea and keep a bibliography up to date.
(126.15.c.3.C.)
Students will write a 1 paragraph summary of their game/app idea. (126.15.c.3.D.)
(turn in for a daily grade)

Create survey questions for their idea. Must include at LEAST the following:
1. Would you use this app/game? (1, Id never use it to 5 Id use it every day)
2. Would you pay to use this app/game? (1 = no, 2 = yes)
3. How much would you be willing to pay? (1 = free, 2= <5 3=>5)
4. How often do you use apps/games daily? (5=hourly, 4=daily 3=weekly
2=monthly 1=<1/month)
5. What else would you like to see in this app/game?
(Ask outside of class time bring AT LEAST 20 responses to class by Day 13.)

Day 10:
Groups/Students will begin their storyboard for their app/games (find online storyboard
maker) http://storyboardthat.com or other site.

Day 11:
Continue storyboards

Day 12:
Download storyboard and share with BBCTA students for feedback (use hamburger
form)

Day13:
Revise/Update storyboards based on feedback from surveys and BBCTA students.

Day 14:
Start coding your game/app.

Day 15:
Work on coding your game/app

Winter Break

Day 16
Work on coding your game/app

Day 17:
Work on coding your game/app

Day 18:
Finish coding your game/app

Day 19:
Gallery walk of games/apps

Day 20:
Gallery walk of games/apps
