T-Ss Very quickly onto task students in quickly. Good
that you get Ss to predict topic etc from title / first
two lines. Topic is obviously close to them.
SS-SS Next time, mention in the plan that Ss work in pairs.
Ss quickly on task, and seem engaged. You mention
T-Ss that you have done this sort of collaboarative
reading before. Thats good Ss are obviously well
drilled and know what to do.
They are really working at this! You give them a
good amount of time too.
SS-SS Again, Ss are very engaged and producing good
work. You are assisting and correcting where
necessary. Ss quickly on task again when you move
to the ask and answer stage. You dont get feedback
after this stage I dont think you need it either.
You have monitored throughout, why waste time
with a big formal check?
T-Ss Swapped this round. I left.

SUMMARY

Nice small group, as most Level 4 groups are this Cycle. You have set the room up properly, getting everyone together and not letting them
scatter. Rapport, as in previous observations, is very good. You have a relaxed style, but you get the students working quickly and the lesson is
all about them.

Good choice of topic, and Book Widgets breathes life into reading activities. The fact that students are familiar with the exercise is a big help
too they are quickly on task, and you can spend more of the lesson getting them to do something, and less trying to set it up. Theres a lot to
be said for repeating task types in lessons, and this lesson demonstrates the advantages of it.

Your timing is good you have achievable amounts of work and manage to move the class on though the stages. This lesson is all about the
students. You get them on task and working, and take a side role for almost all of the class. This is exactly what I want to see.

Youve really settled into the Foundations classroom, and this was a good example of your classroom teaching. I would recommend other
teachers observe your classes. You have got it, whatever that is, that makes it possible for you to teach our students and get them working.
