Directions: Keep this document in your data binder and use it to keep track of your progress towards mastery.
3.75 - 4.00 = I can demonstrate a complex application, so I show advanced mastery of this grade level standard.
3.25 - 3.74 = I have a deeper understanding of the content, so I show mastery of this grade level standard.
2.50 - 3.24 = I have a complete understanding of the content, so I am proficient in this grade level standard.
1.75 - 2.49 = I have a partial understanding of the content, so I am developing in this grade level standard.
1.00 - 1.74 = I have minimal understanding and need assistance, so I am emerging in this grade level standard.
0.00 - 0.99 = I have not been introduced to this standard, so it has not been assessed yet.

Speaking and ListeningComprehension and Collaboration

SL.9-10.1 Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative S AT RA RA FA


discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on
grades 910 topics, texts, and issues, building on others ideas and expressing
their own clearly and persuasively.
I can actively participate in classroom discussions of any sort, whether
thats with the whole class, in small groups, or just pairs.

A. Come to discussions prepared, having read and researched material under


study; explicitly draw on that preparation by referring to evidence from texts
and other research on the topic or issue to stimulate a thoughtful, well-reasoned
exchange of ideas.
I can be prepared for classroom discussions by bringing an annotated
text and/or my literature circle role completed.
I can be prepared for discussion by using evidence to support my ideas.

B. Work with peers to set rules for collegial discussions and decision-making,
clear goals and deadlines, and individual roles as needed.
I can come up with rules for our group that helps us stay on task and get
the work done on time.

C. Propel conversations by posing and responding to questions that relate the


current discussion to broader themes or larger ideas; actively incorporate others
into the discussion; and clarify, verify, or challenge ideas and conclusions.
I can participate in discussions by offering my opinion, asking questions,
or helping others.
I can connect our discussions to larger topics and themes that we may
have discussed or learned about in class.

D. Respond thoughtfully to diverse perspectives, summarize points of


agreement and disagreement, and, when warranted, qualify or justify their own
views and understanding and make new connections in light of the evidence and
reasoning presented.
I can professionally disagree with others and offer evidence from texts to
backup my point.
I can do this without disrupting my group and/or hurting other peoples

SL.9-10.2 Integrate multiple sources of information presented in diverse media


or formats, evaluating the credibility and accuracy of each source.
I can present to a group of people a research project that uses multiple
sources of information.
I can tell which sources are credible or not.
I can use various media formats to present this information, whether
thats using apps or software like Prezi, Google Slides, Google Drawings,
or Powtoons.

SL.9-10.3 Evaluate a speakers point of view, reasoning, and use of evidence and
rhetoric, identifying any fallacious reasoning or exaggerated or distorted
evidence.
I can evaluate an argument and determine the strengths and
weaknesses of the evidence a speaker uses.

SL.9-10.4 Present information, findings, and supporting evidence clearly,


concisely, and logically such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and
the organization, development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose,
audience, and task.
I can present information that is organized and supported by logical
evidence.
I remember to consider audience and purpose whenever I prepare a
presentation.

SL.9-10.5 Make strategic use of digital media in presentations to enhance


understanding of findings, reasoning, and evidence and to add interest.
I can use technology to make my presentations engaging and
interesting.
I can use technology to help the audience understand my findings, such
as my evidence or data.
