Online Course Improvement Program
Working to Improve the Quality of Online Teaching and Learning
Online Course Improvement Program (OCIP) provides NMSU faculty
with a variety of free faculty services and options for discounted
external services. These services focus on improving the quality of
online teaching and learning. The program compliments services
currently available through The Teaching Academy and Center for
Learning & Professional Development. Visit our website for more

Course Reviews and Consultations
OCIP staff is available for consultation and informal and formal
course reviews for blended and online courses.
Workshops and Webinars
OCIP Events
OCIP offers a series of face-to-face workshops and online webinars
for online teaching and learning. One hour to half day sessions will
be held in Milton Hall. The Teaching Academy and OCIP will co-host
a monthly support group session, “Let’s Talk Online Teaching.” The
schedule of workshops and webinars is available on the OCIP
website.
Online Conferences
OCIP will provide access to online conferences about online
teaching and learning as they are offered by relevant organiza-
tions.

NMSU/CEL is a member of organizations that offer workshops and
webinars about online teaching and learning.
OCIP Center
A one-stop OCIP Center will offer a variety of opportunities and
resources and is hosted in NMSU’s Blackboard Learning
Management System (http://learn.nmsu.edu).

One Year Plus Fellowship
The One Year Plus Fellowship (1Y+) provides an in-depth
experience for a small cohort of faculty. The 1Y+ consists of:
• a 36-hour online course
• bi-monthly workshops, webinars and open labs
• self-selected faculty development
• support for online course revision and development
• online course consultation and review
• follow-up activities
Participants receive a stipend for successful completion of the
program. The online application is available on the OCIP website.
The goals of OCIP are:
1. Assist faculty in enhanced web course design and delivery.
2. Provide faculty instructional design services with a framework
that supports peer interaction and encourages best practices
for online learning.
3. Facilitate participation in national digital content consortiums
and relevant communities.
4. Increase efficiency and effectiveness of course content while
fostering a culture of quality for online courses.
5. Develop a scalable, customized professional development
model.
