Objective

I intend to work as a committed and engaged journalist. Besides my extensive writing and reporting
experience, I will bring voracious curiosity, a collaborative mentality, and good humor.

Experience

Reporter Blank Slate Media October, 2016 to present

I report and write ten stories per week for two weekly Long Island-based newspapers: The Roslyn Times and The
Manhasset Times. In addition, I provide a photo, headline, and subtitle for each story and post it on the
publications website.

Ive written work for a host of publications, including Religion Dispatches, In These Times, Lions Roar, Alternet,
Waging Nonviolence, Sports Illustrateds The Cauldron, Truth-Out, Open Democracy, and Turning Wheel Media.

My responsibilities included editing and writing pieces for the daily blog and quarterly magazine, writing the
weekly newsletter, and helping select headlines, subtitles, and cover lines for the magazine, among other tasks.

Community Organizer New York Communities for Change July, 2012 to March, 2013
I facilitated monthly meetings and grassroots political actions in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. I built a
functioning chapter with significant membership and an array of neighborhood campaigns, such as efforts to
reduce incidents of police brutality and save a local hospital.

Education

B.A. Oberlin College September, 2009 to May, 2012


I majored in English Literature and minored in Philosophy. While attending school, I chaired the Oberlin Buddhist
Fellowship, contributed to the schools newspaper, founded an on-campus activist organization called Oberlin
Students Unite, and worked on Robin Carnahans 2010 United States Senate campaign through the Cole
Scholarship program.
