Installing ABAQUS 6.

10 on your PC

1. From ABAQUS Latest folder Run Setup.exe

2. Click Next Click Ok (if prompted for VC distributable components)

3. Click Next Click Next

4. In installation type select License and install licensing tool (Flexlm: If Flexlm is already
install you may ignore this step)

5. ABAQUS will then prompt you for Product install but just minimize that window for time
being

6. Go to \ABAQUS 6-14-1\_SolidSQUAD_\Windows\SIMULIA folder and copy all the files in

this folder to the folder where you have installed license utilities if you have used default
path this should be C:\SIMULIA\License\

7. From Start Menu Go to ABAQUS Licensing and run Licensing Utilities

In the LMTools window that appears go Config Services Tab

In service Name type ABAQUS License Service 1

If you have used default paths while installing Licensing utilities type the following path in

Path to lmgrd.exe file C:\SIMULIA\License\lmgrd.exe

Path to license file C:\SIMULIA\License\abq6101.dat

Otherwise find these files in the path you have installed by clicking browse button.

Make sure that Start services at start up and Use Services check boxes are checked.

Again make sure services name is given correctly i.e. ABAQUS License Service 1

Now Click save services button

Go back to services/license Tab and make sure Configuration using Services is selected
and in the box below that ABAQUS License Service 1 is displayed and greyed(blued) if not
then
Go to Start/Stop/Reread Tab

Make sure that ABAQUS License Service 1 is displayed and greyed(blued) in the installed
services box. If it is not selected, click on it and

Click stop services Click Reread license file click Start Services

Now you may close LMtools

8. Go to Folder Documentation and run setup.exe from there this will start documentation
installation. Accept all default values and install both HTML and PDF and when asked for
server path enter 27011@127.0.0.1

9. Once documentation is installed run the HTML documentation from programs menu and
from the browser window that opens copy the path to documentation file if you have
chosen default value this should be http://yourpcname:2080/versionnumber/ where
yourpcname would have been replaced by the name of your PC and versionnumber with
version of installation. An easy way to write this path is by first running the documentation
from start menu and then copy the path that you get in browser.

10. Now bring to focus the original installation window that was minimized in step 5. Click
Next to choose product install and if prompted for server enter either 27011@127.0.0.1 or
27011@hostID where hostID should be replaced by computer name. (in most cases if you
have installed documentation correctly it should not ask again for server)

11. When it asks for the html documentation path enter the path to your documentation as
copied earlier i.e. http://yourpcname:2080/versionnumber/

12. Just let the installation complete and Click finish at the end.
