MNG 629 - 2017 Technology Design and End to End Innovation (6 credits)

Assignment One [Total - not more than 1200 words] [20 marks]

Q. The following note is with reference to the first assignment. Please read it carefully. Due by 5 pm on August 18 th(mailbox).

The three elements of End to End Innovation are Identify, Invent and Implement [see Introduction slides of Shishir K Jha]. By
identifying one means, How does one identify an important unmet need where there is good knowledge to suggest that a
solution to the need will be feasible?
With reference to the projects allotted to you, please respond to the following questions. Please be very specific in your
response and use your very own words (do not copy text without reference)?
a) You need to be very critical in your examination. Is there a verifiable need (among users) for the product/service stated in
your project? How would you identify or discover a NEED as specified for the project allotted to your group (group effort)?
Who is/(are) the very specific target audience/users? How are the users to be identified? What specific steps would you
follow (what specific forms of qualitative or quantitative approaches)? What would be certain assumptions that you will
make?
b) What is the value that is being offered/proposed by the project? What is the users problem that the project is attempting
to solve? What are the users needs that are being satisfied?

The assignment needs to be typed and put in my mailbox (SOM) by 5 pm on 18th August (no late requests to be
entertained). Do not use more than 1.5 inch margin space and 1.5 line space. The font size should be 12 and Times New
Roman. It is a joint effort by each group. We will be building on your submission for future assignments. Please make sure
that you do email and speak to the Post Doctoral Fellow or Project Manager associated for your project before submitting
the assignment (please cc Dr. Disha in all such emails). You can also reach out to the PIs or Research Staff for each project
(see the details of each project at TCTD website).
