Henryetta Lady Knights defeated again by Dewar Lady Dragons

by Kaitlyn Dillard

Henryettas fast pitch softball team traveled to Dewar Tuesday afternoon to face off against the Lady
Dragons for the second time this season. The Lady Knights put up a gallant effort but could not vanquish
the Lady Dragons, losing 12-1.

The Lady Knights offense started the top of the first rocky. Senior Shelby Bullard got the first hit for
Henryetta, getting onto third base. Bullard was quickly followed by Sophomore Kaylie Hamric who got
to second base after being walked by Dewars pitcher S. Randall. Though they were able to get on base,
Randall got two consecutive strikeouts for Dewar, stopping the Lady Knights from earning anymore bases
or runs.

At the bottom of the first, Henryettas Freshman Pitcher Lexi Lollis stepped up to the mound. Dewar
Junnior Savanah Been was the first up to bat, bunting down the first base line, but was quickly called out
after the Lady Knights defense got Been out at first. Still a little shaky, Lollis gave away four runs to
Dewars offense throughout the inning. This did not damper the spirit of the Lady Knights outfield players
who backed Lollis up, getting two consecutive strike outs to end the inning.

Henryetta could not advance on Dewars 4-0 lead in the top of the second. Senior Skyla Notley was the
only one to get a hit off of Randall before she stuck out two Henryetta batters, Senior Kim Hage and
Sophomore Emily Smith.

The Lady Dragons would establish an impenetrable lead in the bottom of the second inning, earning five
runs off of Lollis before the Lady Knights Defense could stop them. Hage got the first out of the inning,
catching a fly ball in the outfield, which would be followed by three consecutive runs for the Lady
Dragons. Been would earn her first run of the night, followed by teammates Junior Morgan Britt, Randall,
and KiKi Carter, and Senior Karlie Ryal, making the score at the bottom of the second inning 9-0.

The Lady Knights picked up the pace after giving away those three runs, only allowing the Lady Dragons
to get one more run before putting an end to the inning.

The third inning played to Henryettas favor. At the top of the third inning, Hembree would get another
chance, earning one run for the Lady Knights and taking any hopes of Dewar obtaining a shutout win.
Followed by Bullards bunt, which would advance her to second base. Bullard would not be able to get to
third base due to Dewars defense getting two consecutive outs.

The top of the fourth was the last inning of the game, ending it early on a run rule due to the Lady
Dragons getting three more runs, making the end score 12-1.

The Lady Knights were scheduled to face off against Kellyvilles fast pitch softball team Thrusday at 4:30
p.m. in Kellyville. Then they will come home Aug. 26 to play against Wetleetka fast pitch softball at 12
p.m. and Morris on Aug. 28 at 4:30 p.m.
