Must Watch these are the best anime that I have seen, that you havent. While they
might not all have the same impact on you as they did on me, their good production and
quality of animation make them a good watch regardless.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Haikyuu!!
https://myanimelist.net/anime/20583/Haikyuu
This is the first and only sports anime Ive ever watched, and I only picked it up because
I have a personal interest in volleyball. However its themes of drama and excitement
are very well done, and would appeal to even those who arent interested in athletics.
Also, within the first season there is a 5 episode (~2 hours) match that was one of the
most action packed sequences Ive ever watched in anime, comparable to Hunter x
Hunter.

White Album 2
https://myanimelist.net/anime/18245/White_Album_2
This show follows the relationships of a trio of students, connected through a light music
performance. While you should try to go into this without any expectations in regards to
how good the plots is (I loved it, but its a polarizing show and I dont want you
disappointed), the show was amazingly directed. Their use of symbolism, along with a
well thought out first episode show the skill of the production studio. Most significantly, I
still look back upon the show and try and analyze the main characters, as they all hold
meaningful depth for a 12 episode show (comparable to SukaSuka and ReLIFE).

Konosuba
https://myanimelist.net/anime/30831/Kono_Subarashii_Sekai_ni_Shukufuku_wo
Comedy shows can be sometimes be a difficult genre in anime for international fans, as
humor can get lost in translation and in Japanese references. However, this show
makes fun of many typical isekai tropes mixed with lots of simpler gags, making it
appealing to a large audience. Watch both seasons, and be careful with watching it
episodically as I had much more fun binging it.
Also, watch this video on the OP. Its by the same guy from the YLIA one, and it
analyzes two of my favorite shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDQcqNMflpI
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
https://myanimelist.net/anime/14227/Tonari_no_Kaibutsu-kun
If you like Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou, then heres another one. The premise isnt
comparable excluding the school setting, but the feel of them are very similar. While it
isnt considered a great of the anime world, it definitely is special to me. I would also
argue that the female protagonist and the supporting cast are as good as those of
ReLIFEs.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!

https://myanimelist.net/anime/14741/Chuunibyou_demo_Koi_ga_Shitai
I wasnt going to put this in my Must Watch section until you talked about Kuronekos
transition into being a more normal girl. The show takes the chuuni aspect of Gokou
Ruris character and makes it the main focus. I really dont want to talk much about this
show, as Ive found its not as fun once I know how the plot will progress. Watch both
seasons, cute girls by KyoAni is normally a good thing.

Kimi ni Todoke
https://myanimelist.net/anime/6045/Kimi_ni_Todoke
The most vanilla Shoujo manga-based anime ever made, with a kind yet nave girl as
the protagonist. All of the Shoujo tropes are well executed, with an art style that fits the
genre. There are two seasons with 37 episodes, and they fully adapt the manga (giving
an actual conclusion). Id say this is a must watch because it is the staple of its genre,
being the best female led romance anime.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Critically Acclaimed these shows are some of the better shows that Ive seen, but also
popular and well received in the international community.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

K-On
https://myanimelist.net/anime/5680/K-On
Cute girls playing music at school.

Spice and Wolf

https://myanimelist.net/anime/2966/Ookami_to_Koushinryou
A travelling peddler meets a wolf goddess, and they travel across the world trying to
make a profit. Interesting kind of plot driven action, similar to No Game No Life (but
much more serious, and much less fan service). Its success comes from its mature
main characters, who are realistic and likeable.

Kobayashis Maid Dragon

Erased
https://myanimelist.net/anime/31043/Boku_dake_ga_Inai_Machi?q=erased
This is the first anime I ever watched, and I dont remember it too well. However I was
really moved by the show at the time, and it has some of the best individual episodes of
anime in any of these series. There are some harder, emotional scenes and I would
love to discuss this show with you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Follow Up Suggestions depending on how you like the shows above, watch these of a
similar genre or tone. Even though they werent listed before, theyre all very good
shows.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kimi ni Todoke (romance, female protagonist, school):

Lovely Complex
https://myanimelist.net/anime/2034/Lovely%E2%98%85Complex?q=lovely
This show presents the life of a group of high school students, centered on the main
protagonist Risa. Unlike most shows of the same premise, this actually shows 3 years
of high school. This allows for straightforward, enjoyable progression with a conclusive
ending. The characters are much more relatable and realistic than those of Kimi ni
Todoke, and focuses on more than character interactions. My one warning is that the
art is very dated. It doesnt really harm the show, but it definitely doesnt enhance it like
shows such as Your Lie in April do.

Ao Haru Ride
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21995/Ao_Haru_Ride
This show places a fair amount of focus on the juvenile type of social standing and
hierarchy that students create in high school. This is a subject that interests me, but it
may not be as engaging for you. However, there are still a good cast of characters, with
more of that arousing Shoujo art.
Kobayashis Maid Dragon (friendship, cute girls, comedy):

Demi-chan wa Kataritai
https://myanimelist.net/anime/33988/Demi-chan_wa_Kataritai?q=demi
A lot of people were intrigued by the focus on the world of monster girls, and how they
conform to society. While I liked this aspect, the teach Takahashi-sensei is a really fun
and well-made character. He shows a level of maturity and poise around children in a
similar fashion to Willem from SukaSuka, which was an awesome dynamic in both
shows.

Gabriel DropOut
https://myanimelist.net/anime/33731/Gabriel_DropOut?q=gabr
Worth it for the memes, with cute characters and some funny moments.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other personal suggestions Good shows, but not something youre actively missing
out on like the Must Watch shows.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zankyou no Terror
https://myanimelist.net/anime/23283/Zankyou_no_Terror
Just read synopsis and watch, no comment.

New Game!
https://myanimelist.net/anime/31953/New_Game?q=new%20game
https://myanimelist.net/anime/34914/New_Game
This anime is about a girl working in the character design department of a video game
studio, straight out of high school (wut?). All of the characters are cute and with their
own unique personalities. The art is eye candy, and I would definitely suggest this one
as a good recovery show after something heavier. As I said before, I dont really want
to force my opinions of a show onto you. However, the second season is actually great
and really made me excited about the series. Its a continuation of the first season, but
there are small touches that have made me really happy watching it so far.

Hourou Musuko
https://myanimelist.net/anime/8426/Hourou_Musuko?q=hourou
As you correctly identified, this is a unique anime about a weird topic. To its credit, it
does an amazing job at making you empathize with the characters, and forces people
like me to evaluate their views on these issues. It makes comments on the hypocrisy
and irrationality of society, and oftentimes the tone can be saddening. There are a lot of
positives and negatives in this show, but it does a pretty good job of achieving its goal:
bringing light to a very sensitive and controversial topic.
Special note regarding the art of the show: not only is it beautiful, it fits the light tone of
the anime perfectly. Actually spectacular.
Really good video that you should watch after the first episode:

Love Lab
https://myanimelist.net/anime/16353/Love_Lab
This shows source material shares the author of my beloved Bokura wa Minna
Kawaisou, and the comedy is just as excellent. The show has a plot, but it isnt
important and exists just as a frame for cute girls and funny moments.

Shingeki no Bahamut
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21843/Shingeki_no_Bahamut__Genesis
The show is based off of a mobile game, and the plot isnt particularly new or exciting.
However, the more realistic art and cool characters made it pretty addictive. The
protagonist has a Jack Sparrow feel, whom I am a big fan of. Add in ~cute~ hot side
characters, and I had a lot of fun.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Popular or Well Regarded Shows I didnt Like you may not want to read this section,
as Im going to spew all of my bias onto these shows and may negatively affect the
viewing experience, if you do choose to watch them. Im not saying dont watch any of
them, just that if you happen to consider watching any of them, choose something from
above first.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mediocre Shonens that are just worse than Hunter x Hunter

https://myanimelist.net/anime/9919/Ao_no_Exorcist
https://myanimelist.net/anime/14513/Magi__The_Labyrinth_of_Magic
These shows werent actually bad, but just a waste in time compared to the all time
great.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
https://myanimelist.net/anime/7054/Kaichou_wa_Maid-sama
To quote another triggered viewer,
This overall score is a 2/10 with a +1 because I am just so happy that I finished
this bad anime. I considered giving this anime lower because a 3 is "Poor" in the review
box, and it's definitely not poor, (better defined as "Pathetic", A score of 1) but I decided
to let it go. In the end, this review will just get bashed with unhelpful marks, but I would
love to try to tear down the fake fanbases that attempt to compare this with the superior
Kimi ni Todoke. To compare them... Let's say Kimi ni Todoke is my foot and Kaichou wa
Maid-sama is the bug I just stepped on. Although Kimi ni Todoke deserved a much
better status than my foot... Kaichou is bad and that's my solid opinion. Nothing you can
do to change it. (MAL)
It was about a girl who worked in a maid caf, and had a not-relationship with a boy for
26 episodes. Like the main characters were good at first, but instead of progression
leading to a relationship, we got two people who liked each other and a girl who pushed
him away until the end for literally no reason. Also, the director had a terribly short
attention span with half of the show being filler about 1-episode side characters.
Kokoro Connect
https://myanimelist.net/anime/11887/Kokoro_Connect?q=kokoro
The first half of the show is perfectly good and fun, but the last arc drove me insane.
Apparently some voice actors were bullying a guy and they had to end production early.
So pretty much, the last few episodes of the TV show were retarded, illogical shit pieced
together. They did release 4 episodes to conclude the show later on, and I heard those
are actually good. Maybe watch this, I just wanted to complain.

Any show I rated a 4 or 5 on MAL, and probably most 6s as well

I love anime. For me to give it a 5 or below, it was either mostly garbage, a joke (fun
watch but terribly written) or Madoka Magica. Similarly with my 6 rated shows, as I
enjoyed all of these but they had major flaws.

The Pedantic Romantic
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAIKWqE5-SjyeL1wQDaOb0g
This guy is very analytical and well spoken. His videos on SukaSuka and Hourou
Musuko have helped me better understand and enjoy the shows. Similarly, his
criticisms of Masamune-kun and Koi to Uso have helped me support my previous
conclusions about the shows.

Digibro

Known for being quite contrarian, he is thorough and invested in what he makes.

Mothers Basement

Maker of the Whats in an OP series, this guy is a seriously skilled analyst. Its a lot of
fun seeing how he looks at shows, and has helped me become more critical in my own
studying of anime.

Glass Reflection

He is probably the best channel for anime reviews. I will suggest, like with myself, you
shouldnt take everything he says to heart. In fact, I disagree with almost everything he
said about Re:Zero. Despite that, I still watch all his vids and think that he has a good
balance of analysis and entertainment.
