ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
3- DAY SCHOOL-BASED CAMPUS JOURNALISM TRAINING WORKSHOP
I Introduction
Gumaus National High School offers a variety of activities that would diagnose students
potential to the best of their abilities. Various trainings, seminars and workshops had been employed
to cater their different skills. Recently, the School Publication named The Glitters conducted 3-day
School-Based Training Workshop. It was attended by different grade levels especially those who
have inclination in writings. Different areas had been taught and workshops have been given to
students. The conduct of School-Based Campus Journalism Training Workshop increases the
awareness of students in the field of journalism. It also aims to enliven and boost students hidden
intelligence that will surely make contribution in the school and in the community if given a chance
to be developed. The main objectives of the Three- Day Campus Journalism Training Workshop is
to develop awareness and commitment of students and teachers in the field of journalism.
II Brief Narrative
With the proponents intent of becoming aware in the changing field of journalism, this lead to the
proposal of the training workshop. It was held last June 10,17,18, 2017 at Gumaus National High School. It was
carried out because the school needed this training especially students with interest in this field. The training was
facilitated by the proponents and the faculty members assigned in different committees. The participants were the
students of Gumaus National High School. Speakers were invited to discuss topics in their expertise. The training
started in a registration of interested participants with a registration fee amounting 5pesos to cater the snacks and
materials to be used in the training workshop. All grade levels were invited to join in the training. It was followed
by a short program, a Prayer, National Anthem, followed by an energizer to start the flow lively. A short message
and opening remarks was given by the school paper adviser, then a guest speaker was introduced. The discussion
started at 8:30 in the morning where the speaker from Paracale Elementary School, Mr. Antonio R Naing Jr.
talked about Sports writing afterwards a workshop took place, followed by Editorial Cartooning, Photo
Journalism , then a workshop. On the second day, News writing, Editorial Writing, and Feature Writing were
discussed by Edwin Datan Jr. then a workshop followed. Copy Reading was then discussed by Ms. Jenniffer G.
Consuelo, Awarding Ceremony happened in the afternoon, the winners on the different areas were announced
and they were awarded with a gift or prize and certificate of participation. Certificate of Recognition was also
given to the brilliant speakers who extended their sincerest concern in the students of GNHS. Picture capturing
was enjoyed by the participants who have been very grateful after receiving their awards.
