1. Scope
This General Specification governs the specific requirements applicable to equipments such as
pressure vessels, heat exchangers or air coolers, and piping, which are intended to be used in
Severe Sour Service Conditions as defined in General Specification GS MOO COR 170.
This specification shall supplement GS MOO PVV 611 for welding activities, which remains fully
applicable.
The present General Specification makes major reference to the NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156. It
states additional requirements with respect to Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC), Sulphide
Oriented Hydrogen Induced Cracking (SOHIC) and to Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC) where the
NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 document is insufficient.
Figure 1 - CLAS Battery limits of GS MOO PVV 611/GS MOO PVV 622/GS MOO PVV 612

The above sour service severity diagram does not apply to CRAs. CRAs shall only be used
within their specified limits of use as detailed in GS MOO COR 170 and in this General
Specification, which make major reference to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3.
This General Specification is also applicable to amine service.

This document is the property of MOO, it contains confidential information which may not be disclosed to any third party,

2. Reference documents
The reference documents listed below form an integral part of this General Specification.

External Documents
Unless otherwise stipulated, the applicable version of these documents, including relevant
appendices and supplements, is the latest revision published at the effective date of this
document.
Since this specification brings additional requirements dealing with a specific application (i.e.
H2S service), it is deemed to overrule any less stringent requirements appearing in any of the
other contractual Reference Documents.
Any divergence between any of the contractual reference documents and this specification must
be reported to the Company for decision. In such a case, and unless otherwise agreed or
decided by the Company, it is understood that the more stringent requirement shall apply.
Exceptions to, or deviations from this specification are not permitted unless previously accepted
in writing by the Company. For this purpose, Manufacturer's requests for substitution or change
of any kind shall be completed with all pertinent information required for the Company
assessment under a specific derogation request. In case of approval, such approval shall be
valid only for a specific case and shall not be construed as having general validity for other
applications.

Dealing with weldments, each weld (after PWHT if any) shall be surface hardness tested at two
opposite locations.
When the pipe has a horizontal axis, the 2 testing positions to be used correspond to the top
and bottom.
Each test comprises:
3 measurements in the weld metal zone
3 measurements in the HAZ only if demonstrated feasible.
"EQUOTYP" or equivalent hardness devices are prohibited. Penetrator devices (Ultrasonic

9.3.3 CLAS Production Testing

For small items, (e.g. small springs, pins, small tubes, etc.) which cannot be hardness tested
individually, the Manufacturer shall conduct tests on a random basis by selecting components
from production runs or stores batches to ensure that the product complies fully with this

submitted for Company approval. Hardness traverses shall be performed according to
NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-2.
Production tests for pressure vessel shall be performed according to the relevant design
general specification.
For piping applications, as a minimum:
If less than 100 production welds are to be performed for each qualified WPS and on each
construction site or each package fabrication: no welding production test is required.
If more than 100 production welds are to be performed for each qualified WPS and on each
construction site or each package fabrication: the number of welding production tests shall be 1
every 100 welds minimum. The welding production test shall be performed on the highest Ceq
range for CLAS Materials.
In addition, the Company reserves the right to request to test any doubtful production weld (i.e.
for instance, non compliance with the WPS).
Additionally, the Company inspectors may carry out random hardness checks. Where hardness
values in excess of the requirements of this Specification and the NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156
are obtained the part shall be rejected.
Maximum values obtained shall be below 248 HV5.
In case fabrication tests are required in the contractual documents, they shall include both
hardness tests and microstructure examination with the same acceptance criteria as stated in
this section.
