I. INTRODUCTION
Human body tissue is another way of describing how our cells are grouped
together in a highly organized manner according to specific structure and function
(cover, support, movement, and control). Different types of tissues can be found in
different organs. In humans, there are four basic types of tissue: epithelial,
connective, muscular, and nervous tissue. Each of these categories is characterized
by specific functions that contribute to the overall health and maintenance of the
body. A disruption of the structure is a sign of injury or disease.
II. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowing the different disease in each types
2. To know how you treat those diseases
3. To know each diseases symptoms
III. CONTENT
4 Types of Disease associates with each tissue
EPITHELIAL TISSUE
Eczema skin inflammation also known as dermatitis usually redness and
itching. Is a genetic defect in the skin barrier, and is found most in young children
and infants. Can be caused by outbreaks in the environment or allergens/allergies
Not contagious, can be inherited
Signs and Symptoms
Dry, red, itchy, burning skin, Intense itching, Blisters and lessons.
Usually in the face, on the neck, insides of elbows and knees, and ankles in adults\
Treatment
there is no cure for eczema, but can be treated with ointments and medicated salves
which help soothe the symptoms.
CONNECTIVE TISSUE
Rheumatoid arthritis - chronic, frequently progressive disease in which
inflammatory changes occur throughout the connective tissues of the body.
Inflammation and thickening of the synovial membranes (the sacs holding the fluid
that lubricates the joints) cause irreversible damage to the joint capsule and the
articular (joint) cartilage as these structures are replaced by scarlike tissue called
pannus.
Signs and Symptoms
Joint pain; joint swelling; stiffness; fatigue
Treatment
Use drugs that ease symptoms/that slow disease activity; surgery
MUSCULAR TISSUE
Muscular Dystrophy is one of a group of diseases called myopathies that
destroy skeletal muscle tissue. Usually inherited and are characterized by
degeneration of muscle cells leading to atrophy and eventual replacement by
connective tissue.
Signs and Symptoms
(typically appear between the ages 2 and 3) frequent falls; difficulty in getting up from
a lying or sitting position; trouble running and jumping; waddling gait; walking on the
toes; large calf muscle; muscle pain and stiffness; learning disabilities.
Treatment
No cure for any form of muscular dystrophy, but medications and therapy can slow
the course of the disease.
NERVOUS TISSUE
Motor Neurone Disease a progressive degenerative disease of the motor
system occurring in middle age and causing muscle weakness and wasting
Signs and Symptoms
Treatment
No cure for MND; medication (riluzole)
