Visual Arts Curriculum:
The mission of the St. Aloysius Fine Arts Program is to inspire students to develop their God-given talents and
establish a life long appreciation of the arts by providing a comprehensive art program integrated across the
curriculum. We strive to foster creativity, imagination, and artistic self-expression by providing students with
hands on activities in visual arts. Our program includes the study of aesthetics, history, cultural arts, critique, art
production, and technology. Students learn about art and artistic processes by observing, discussing, producing
and critiquing works of art. It is our goal that every student reaches his/her full potential while gaining a better
understanding of self, society, history and cultures past and present.

Artsonia & Website

Our school is a member of Artsonia, the largest online student art museum. Artsonia showcases artwork from
thousands of schools around the world. Parents and family may purchase keepsakes from the museum with
students artwork imprinted on it, and 20% of the revenue is commissioned back to the school art program. Please
consider supporting the art program by making a purchase! We invite you to view our student gallery by visiting

Heres how you can help:
Make a purchase on Artsonia. After student artwork is published online, parents and
family may purchase keepsakes from the museum with the childs artwork imprinted on
it, and 20% of the revenue is commissioned back to the school art program. Depending
on the amount of promotion the teacher invests and the demographic of family
members, this support could range from hundreds to thousands of dollars for additional
equipment / art supplies for the classroom.
If you work for a company that supports the arts or offers grants, please keep us in
mind.
If you work in an art related industry, share your talent and knowledge with our students.
If youd like to make a donation to our program, please make checks payable to: St.
Aloysius School, Attn: Mrs. McEwan. Our students GREATLY appreciate your support.

Why is your support so important? Heres why:

A well-rounded education in the fine arts helps students develop:
imagination
observation skills
critical thinking skills
complex thinking skills
critical analysis
abstract thought
presentation and performance skills
reasoning skills
positive self-esteem
pride in work
self-expression
perseverance

Studies show that participation in the arts leads to higher academic success. The arts improve
cognitive abilities used in academic areas such as math, reading and science. Students who
participate in the arts score up to 10 percent higher on the SATs. Also, students who are
involved in the arts are more committed to school in general and that work ethic carries over
when they go to college.
