Class: IV

Textbook: Way Ahead 2

Lesson: What is he doing?

Structures and vocabulary: s/he is wearing/carrying a/an; what is s/he carrying?; Its +
person; boots; T-shirt; socks; skirt; trousers; furniture

Objectives: Ss ask and answer questions using present continuous

Ss describe peoples clothes and guess the right person

Ss write down questions and answers about different pictures

Materials: textbook, blackboard, workbook, picture cards

Interaction: individual work, whole-class

Procedure:

1. Checking homework: exercise 3, page 34. Before checking homework T may want to
explain again the use of the short negative forms of the verb to be (arent, m not, isnt) 5-7
minutes

2. Warmer: T shows Ss some pictures with different kinds of clothes and asks Ss to name
the clothes in English 3 minutes

3. Pre-reading: T asks Ss to look at page 83 in their textbooks and asks Ss to infer what the
text will be about by looking only at the pictures 2 minutes

4. While-reading: T asks individual Ss to read the text from page 83 and asks them to write
down the verbs with an ing form (singing, going, carrying) 4-5 minutes

5. Post-reading: T draws attention to the verb to carry and asks Ss to try to explain it by
miming. T may help the Ss understand the word better and may give the Romanian
translation. T informs Ss about the next activity from page 83: Ss ask and answer
questions about the objects the characters from the story are carrying. Two Ss read the
example and T chooses other pairs to do a similar short dialogue (question and
answer). T will try to make all the Ss participate 10 minutes.
6. Consolidation: Ss listen to the song from page 84 and look in their textbooks. Afterwards,
Ss are informed about the next activity from page 84: Ss describe the clothes of the
people from the exercise and the others have to guess who was described. All Ss have
a chance to answer.

Extension: One S comes in front of the class and describes a person from the class. Others
have to guess who it is 10-15 minutes.

Ss also work on exercise 4, page 35 (Workbook). T explains the task and gives
feedback 5-7 minutes.

Textbook: Way Ahead 2 / English for Kids (activity book)

Lesson: I usually wake up early

Structures and vocabulary: adverbs of frequency; third person singular simple present verbs;
I usually get up at 7:00; He usually gets up, etc.

Objectives: Ss make true sentences about themselves using the adverbs of frequency

Ss make sentences about a character in the book using the third person
singular form of the given verbs

Materials: textbook, blackboard, workbook, picture cards

Interaction: individual work, whole-class

Procedure:

1. Checking homework: exercise 4, page 40 (Activity Book) 5 minutes

2. Presentation: T asks Ss how often they do certain things (watch TV; read a book; got to
the cinema, etc.) Ss answer in L1. T then asks Ss to open their activity books at page
40 and look at exercise 5. T asks Ss if they know some of the adverbs of frequency
from the list and then begins to explain each word. After Ss write down in their
notebooks, T asks them to put the adverbs in the order of their frequency. Ss write
down in their AB 10 minutes

3. Semi-controlled practice: T informs the Ss about the task in exercise 6, page 40 and Ss
work on their own for 5 minutes. T checks 10 minutes.

4. Presentation: T asks Ss to remember the rule from the Present Simple about the third
person singular. Ss answer and asks Ss to look at page 41, exercise 8. T explains that there
are some categories that accept s, -es, -ies. T then explains the rules of formation for each
category:

other words from the list. T writes on the BB and Ss in their notebooks.

- cnd verbul se termin n e, vom aduga s (ride-rides)

5. Semi-controlled practice: T explains the task for exercise 9 and Ss work in their Abs. T
checks and gives feedback 8 minutes.

6. Homework: Make sentences using the adverbs of frequency and the third person singular
form of the verbs 2 minutes.
