After several successive years of record growth, Canadas wind energy industry is positioned to grow even stronger.
The new federal government has brought climate change and environmental policy to the surface, emphasizing a need
for more renewable energy sources.

As Canadian provinces aim to meet expectations for greenhouse emission reduction while providing affordable energy
alternatives in a volatile economy, there is an increasing demand for a more sustainable supply of electricity. We
continue to receive regulatory and policy support for clean, renewable, low-cost and low-emission energy: Wind.

Wind Energy is the #1 new source of electricity in Canada
and has been the largest source of new electricity
generation in Canada for 11 years.
In 2016, Canada invested $1.5 billion in new wind energy,
completing 21 projects across the country. Sixteen of the
years 21 projects are owned, at least in part, by aboriginal
or local communities, or municipal governments.
Canada is home to the worlds eighth largest wind
generating fleet.
Ontarios next Long Term Energy Plan will be released in
2017. Ontarios target of 80 per cent greenhouse gas
emission reduction target by 2050 will require Ontario
to continue to prioritize emissions-free generation.
States in the U.S. northeast facing strict carbon emission
caps and the retirement of aging generating facilities are
increasingly seeing clean power imports from Canada as
reliable and cost-effective. Wind can be deployed quickly
and built at low cost.

Alberta is phasing out all pollution from coal-fired electricity
generation (6,300 MW) by 2030 and renewable energy
mostly windwill replace two thirds of it with renewable
energy; expected to drive development of at least
4,000 MW of new wind energy capacity.
Saskatchewan announced that it is adopting targets of
10 per cent wind energy (by capacity) by 2020 and
30 per cent by 2030; resulting in an estimated addition
of 1,600 MW of new wind energy by 2030.
The 2016-2030 Quebec Energy Policy establishes a new
framework for wind energy development in the province.
B.C. has indicated that all future power procurement
must be for clean energy provided by independent power
producers, and that wind energy represents the bulk of the
provinces low-cost renewable energy opportunities.
