THE CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS MIND

CONSCIOUS MIND
The conscious mind is very analytical.
This is the portion of our mind that we use to make decisions with.
The conscious mind is only capable of conducting one task at a time.
The conscious mind stores only a fraction of all memories.
The conscious mind blocks and rejects stimulants.
The conscious mind is slow at conducting various tasks.

SUBCONSCIOUS MIND
The subconscious mind takes everything literally.
The subconscious mind can conduct many, many tasks at one time.
The subconscious mind stores everything we see, hear, feel or read.
The subconscious mind reacts rapidly.
The subconscious is carrying out hundreds of tasks every minute of the day.

THE POWER OF IMPRINTS

An imprint is a message that has reached the core of the subconscious mind.
An imprint may be positive or negative. The imprint does not need to be
logical or sensible in order to effect us. Every human being has hundreds of
imprints. Imprints can give you talents or they can prevent you from
achieving success in your life.

WHERE DO IMPRINTS COME FROM?

1. Imprints can be generated by something that you hear.

2. Imprints can be generated by something that you see.
3. Imprints can be generated by a feeling that you have.
4. Imprints can be generated by something that you have read.

EXAMPLES OF IMPRINTS

1. BY HEARING You will grow up and be fat like your Aunt Mary. You
seem to have a natural ability to draw. Your Uncle Bill wet the bed until
he was twelve years old. You are the most loyal employee that I have
ever had.
2. BY SEEING Seeing a relative in the hospital dying. The relative is very
skinny. Seeing the respect that another person receives by doing a good
job. Seeing a movie where the killer is hiding in the basement. Seeing
the joy on a parents face when the report card is filled with As.
3. BY FEELING Feeling as if you are not as smart as most people.
Feeling as if you were born to be a success. Feeling as if you do not
deserve good things. Feeling as if you will have a great marriage.
4. BY READING You read that 3 out of 4 marriages end in divorce. You
read that there is more job openings than ever before. You read that the
economy will be slow. You read that left-handed people are smarter than
right-handed people are.

WHEN DO IMPRINTS TAKE PLACE?

1. Imprints are likely to take place during a frightening time.

2. Imprints take place when we are more emotional.
3. Imprints can take place through the use of repetition.
4. Imprints happen when we are experiencing a high level of stress.

FRIGHTENING TIME In a frightening situation our mind is open, and is

looking for an answer or advise.
EMOTIONAL TIME Emotions can be either positive or negative. In
times of great joy or sadness we are more receptive to things that we hear,
see or feel.
THROUGH REPETITION Regardless of our emotional state, repetition
can always cause imprints. The repetition may be generated internally or by
external means. Imagine if you heard the following statement five or six
times a day for a year. You will never amount to anything. You will never
amount to anything. You will never amount to anything. You will never
amount to anything. You will never amount to anything. You will never
amount to anything.
STRESS We have already mentioned that the conscious mind can only
conduct on task at a time. When we are stressed the conscious mind has
trouble blocking out negative thoughts.

THE THREE WAYS THAT WE LEARN

HEARING ( AUDIO )

SEEING ( VISUAL )

FEELING ( KINESTHETIC )

Although we all have the ability to learn by seeing, hearing and feeling we
have one of these three learning modes as our primary. Spend a moment and
analyze the way in which you learn the best.

I learn best by ________________________________________________

Realizing that people learn in one of three ways will enable you to improve
your communication skills with everyone that you meet. Listed below are a
few of the clues that people tend to give you as they are speaking.

1. Have you ever felt that way before? I have a feeling that we are not
getting along very well. Then sensation that comes to mind is a feeling
of anger.
2. Do you hear what I am saying? Does that sound good to you? Listen to
this idea that I have. Does that ring true for you?
3. Do you see what I mean by that? Can you picture that? You dont see
what I mean.

DANGERS OF HYPNOSIS

There have been many, many false claims of the dangers in using hypnosis.
These stories can usually be traced back to a friend's mother's neighbor's
coworker knew someone who became stuck in hypnosis back in the early
50's. These are simply stories that have been told over and over again, and
hold no validity.

There is only one way in which hypnosis could be dangerous. Never use
hypnosis for pain control without a doctor's recommendation. An individual
who was proficient at using self hypnosis could block pain and thus not have
the pain as a signaling devise that something is wrong. Without this signal
we could fail to seek medical attention.

Many hypnotherapists feel that this not a danger of hypnosis, but rather
improper use of this tool. The same could take place through the use of
medication.

The safest way to avoid complications is not to use hypnosis as a means of

pain control without a physician's recommendation.

REGRESSION / MEMORY

Why do we forget? We forget as a way of keeping the conscious mind fro

becoming cluttered with unneeded information. If we could recall everything
that we have ever seen, heard, felt, or read at a conscious level, we would
not be able to function.

One of the techniques used in hypnotherapy is called RESTORING THE

MEMORY. This technique works very well with self hypnosis. The
following five steps will enable us to bring information to the conscious
level. The more you use these techniques the more successful you will
become.

1. Relax or enter a hypnotic state.

2. Allow generic memories from the past to enter your mind.
3. Place the order for the desired memory.
4. Allow the mind to wander.
5. Retrieve the desired information.
