REFLECTION

In the process of doing Linking Theory To Practice project task, I find that this
project needed me to works in group. After two days I had received the briefing
about the assignments at, my class had a discussion to divide 22 persons including
me in 8 groups. Then the group was decided. My groups members were Nadzirah
Binti Husin,Syazana Binti Ismail and lastly me. This was the third time had group
work with them, its make me more comfortable to cooperate with them.

The project task is basically about learning technique. Each group required to
plan a lesson plan and demonstrating the technique based on the topics to the class.
Our group need to focus on total physical technique. The first meeting that my group
had was at our classroom, in the discussion we had decided to divide an individual
work for each member. Since we had 3 people in a group we divide two people to
plan and write the lesson plan and one person need to find any video clip related to
the topic. The reasons we do this to consume time and work efficiently. Despite we
already had our individual part for the project, we still help each other if our member
had difficulty in understanding their part or the lesson technique. Each time we found
some info that related to the project, we will inform and discuss with the entire group
member whether the info is relevant or not.

After finishing with our lesson plan we need to demonstrate the technique.
Since this was our first project for Linking Theory To Practice we felt lost but, lucky
with the help and support of my peer make us feel confidence. While the subject is
still new for us it gives a perspective that we might not be able to demonstrate it well.
Furthermore, it also put a pressure on us when the topic that needs to be present is
vast and quite hard for us. In order to tackle the topic we had read a lot of articles and
some of book recommended for the subject. We also ask the help of our lecture to
see if we were on the right tract. During the demonstration the cooperation from my
peer help us in creating a learning environment based on total physical respond.

After the demonstration, our peers give some of their comments. The floor
member said that I sometimes converse to Bahasa. I as to admit it was our mistake
as we were too exited in demoing the method and forget to speak in English.
Furthermore they also say that the arrangement for the student were not suitable
because the student only stand up on their place. As the demonstration take place in

class the space for the student are limited and fix, that why we cannot arrange the
student properly for the activities.

In order to overcome our weakness in the demonstration we had come out


with some solution. First we need to arrange our time and be prepare for the worst,
next we also need to control ourselves so that we wont be over exited and forget
important things during the presentation.

Throughout this project there are many knowledge and experience that I have
gain, first I learn how to work in team. Our group consists of 3members, 2 girl and 1
boy at first I think that our group may had problems as the factor of gender may
influent our cooperation with each other. After all girls are well known for their
fussiness and we the boys love doing work during the last minutes. Gender also
cause us to be apart from each other, I has to admit even though this is the third time
I work with Syazana still has an assumption that maybe she cannot accept the way I
am doing the project. After we started doing the project I realize that having differed
gender in a group really boost the productivity of a group as the girl is really good
with organizing and tolerate with the work. She also willing to teach and guide us
during the project. Plus, having the girl in this group make us fell more exciting and
fun as we can know each other better and exchange views and ideas. I also manage
to change my bad attitude that is doing the job at the eleven hour.

We also able to understand each other by doing the project this is all because
of the obstacle that we had gone through. The obstacle teach us to help each other,
even though there are some member that are not contribute to the project or having a
problem we still need to accept them as we are one team and we not going to finish
the project if we dont help one another. Even though, at first I dont understand about
the project and its need but, I manage complete the project. Thanks to my team.

The knowledge that I have gain from doing this project can be projected in
my life as a teacher to be knowing about teaching technique. During my presentation,
my part was the post listening part. I have to tackle the pupil attention and able to
conduct the activity together with them. Teaching skill and techniques that I learned is

how to managed the listening class with the pupil. I have to deal with the classroom
situation and also how to cater the student need.

Write a critical reflection in about 1500 based on the preparation of lesson


planning and implementation of microteaching . relate the experience and the
designof the whole lesson plan with releveant literature in ELT practices.

Topic : Unit 8 Its story time!

Our group has to microteaching subject English for Year 3. The learner level is
mixed ability where the number of pupil is 36 for 60 minutes. Our theme for the
microteaching is world of knowledge and we choose topic its story time. We have
asked our classmate to be our pupils for the day. The first presenter is Nadzirah and
she first greet the student and introduce herself. First she divided the pupil into
several group then she ask the student to solve the animal puzzle given. The
allocated time given is around 15 minutes for the student to do the puzzles. When the
student finished to do the puzzle, The next task that she ask the student to do is to
recognize the animal in the puzzle that they just solved. They have to name several
animals that they recognize. When they finished giving the name of the animal, she
asked the student to name a few of animal that they knew. This is to test on the
student previous knowledge. The next turn is Syazana, she do the drilling part and
the read aloud and ask the student for unfamiliar word first before she do the lesson.
She give the student the text of the story and read together with them.for my part all I
have to do isto read the script to the classroom and ask them if there any unfamiliar
word that they dont know. The lecturer said that I do not need to repeat the script

reading as Syazana has read the scrit together with the class before so if I do that it
will become a repetition.after that I have to choose a group to do the role play of the
story mushroom in the rain in front of the class. Then I give the student each hand
puppet to act the character that they play. After that they proceed to the next activity
that is music box, first I will play the song to the classroom and they have to pass the
box to their friend, if the music stop the person must take out a question and answer
the question. The question is about the story mushroom in the rain and their friend
can help them if the answer is wrong.i think except the repetition everything goes
well.

For teachers, preparing for lesson planning is crucial because it is for the
teaching-learning process. For teacher to have proper classroom planning will keep
things easy for teacher, and it also keep teachers organized and on track while
teaching, thus allowing teacher to teach more, help students reach objectives more
easily and manage less. When the preparation is better, the more likely the teacher
will be able to handle whatever unexpectedly happens in the lesson.

Lesson planning also provides a coherent framework for smooth efficient


teaching. It is crucial for the teacher because to prepare all the task is not an easy
work to be done. Nevertheless the teacher had to delivered the lesson and fulfil all
the learning standard. Lesson planning help the teacher to be more organized
especially to teach student with learning disabilities. To deliver the lesson in 60
minutes time is not an easy task to do. Lesson planning gives a sense of direction in
relation to the syllabus. Teacher will be guided if they prepare lesson plan. Likewise if
they do not prepare the lesson plan, they may teach the wrong syllabus in the
classroom.

Lesson planning gives the confident to the teacher when delivering the lesson
plan. When the teacher deliver the lesson in the classroom, they might lost direction
sometimes and lesson plan can help the teacher to get back on track. Lesson
planning also provides a useful basis for future planning especially when the teacher
wanted to write a lesson plan again. It is considered as a guide or reference. In the
classroom the student might be from mixed ability group so the lesson planning helps

the teacher to plan lessons which cater for different students. And lesson planning
also was a proof that the teacher has taken a considerable amount of effort into the
teaching.
